I found this hose disconnected in the left side of the engine compartment. Any idea what it is or where it should be reconnected?

For anyone who may stumble upon this thread it's the ventilation hose for the distributor. There's an oval hole facing the rear of the car. Thank you kind sir...I'm going to crawl back under my rock now...

The plastic connector that snaps into the oval hole in distributor is called "breather pipe" 993-602-121-00.

Its purpose is to supply a little fresh air into the distributor's internals so the ozone created by the sparks as the rotor spins is dissipated. It was found that the ozone accelerates the aging of the rubber belt inside the distributor and resulted in premature belt failure. I believe there was a Technical Service Bulletin for it related to the 964 and early 993 engines. On later engines, it was factory installed,
