NB Prices are Bananas
Looking like a great time to get out of a 993 NB and get into a 991. Or maybe do what @AOW162435 only dreams of.... buy a bunch of used priuses and drive a different one every day of the week.

Fascinating thread. Read all of it ...just wow! From a guy who bought a '95NB in '01, tracked it extensively for years as well as drove it daily since then, I can't fathom the prices these are fetching today! Not that I am complaining, but it's all academic to me, though it does stoke my ego a bit since I get to enjoy this gorgeous beast every day that I am blessed to breathe!!!
Now we have 180k miles or so, engine still races freely to redline, uses 1qt/2500-3000 miles (the same as when I bought it as I keep fastidious records), and runs as tight and precise as when I got her. I recall putting in the PSS9s, AR bars, and bushings maybe 15+ yrs ago --and that's it for mods, nothing more!-- and criminy does this car still feel solid and connected! I haven't a clue what kind of dough a NB with this many miles would fetch (again, for ego's sake anyway
), but I sure am fortunate to have gotten in when I did. For those on the cusp of making the 993 your dream car, I can't say enough for how reliable and satisfying it is to have such mechanical art at your disposal.

Well…. If you think that’s bad go try to buy a 2021 Mercedes G Wagon AMG….those are now $400k all day long! MB discontinued the V8!

I'd suggest spending some time in a 991 before selling a 993.
Also, if 993 prices follow 964, 993NB prices may have room to go so selling now may leave money on the table.

Driving experience aside, one of the huge benefits to me is cost to run. Collector car insurance and antique plates versus full tax burden for newer stuff. Yikes.

My 2 cents, and maybe worth even less:
I've been toying with the idea of selling for a year or so, looks like my procrastination may of paid off for once. Love the car, spent a couple of year getting it where I wanted it but simply do not drive it much.
Occasionally lurking around here over the years you see many posts looking for 993's from guys who sold theirs a year or two prior, I honestly could not think of another car that I would like more than the 993 either.
Lastly, being that I am far from a baller, if / when the 993's land solidly in the six figure range I fear that I wouldn't enjoy driving it the little that I do since I'd be worried about something happening to it. First world issues I know, I should probably say the hell with it and drive the crap out of it.....

I thought the 991 felt and drove larger than it looked, if that makes sense. I had a 991, manual, PTV, PASM sport suspension, sport exhaust, about as "sports car" as I could find but it wasn't the same as an air cooled 911. 991 is a very nice car and it performed better in almost every way over the 993 but don't miss it one bit.

I had a Cayman 718S for a few years - the car did everything well.
I felt the same after a while - too many electronics and like a lot of modern cars, felt like a cell phone.
If I was retired and didn't have to be careful with my $, I would have kept my 993 and the Cayman, other than that I don't miss it.
My wife has a late model BMW 5 series - I don't drive it and I don't like to when I have to. To many electronic intrusions and it's boring to drive. Too many messages from the computer such as "hello," upon start up.
I suspect this is a generational thing - younger generations were brought up in the technology era and are more receptive of these kind of things.
I did find a BMW scanner that will allow me to cancel the service alerts and annoying reminders, so we can get it serviced an an Indy as opposed to the dealer who is 90 minutes away.
