Default Got my car back immobiliser problem

Hi All

Got my car back, and was charged nearly £500 to tell me that the immobile isn’t working! So was going to get a big bill, put it off as I wasn’t working.

back at work now, so question time…

Will getting a new modern alarm unit solve my issue?

now the ECU might be fuct as water got into the cabin. Is there any way of checking if it’s okay?

Cheers

Sunil

Symptoms would be helpful if you're looking for a solution. "Immobilizer doesn't work" isn't that useful.

Hi City Chap,
No, a new alarm is probably not the best solution as the immobilizer and alarm are integrated with the ECU. Better to sort out what you have. Usually, it is something simple like a bad switch, bulb, or bulb socket. Or when a bulb was changed the fixture grounded out while being removed and blew the fuse.
Here is a page that may help you sort out the simple stuff:

Hi City Chap,
Detach the car battery, remove the seats to get to all the controllers, if the controllers got wet open them up and dry them out with a hairdryer. Reassemble and see if it solved your issuers.

How to remove the seats without drama:

can you be more specific as to why they say that the immo system is NOT working?

When you click on the fob, do your doors open?

There is a video on youtube that explains how the whole system works

Bypass the immobilizer entirely with this. 3 minute installation using their tools and works like a charm. https://www.6speedonline.com/article...ve-immo-block/

Pretty sure OP has a UK immo. Different beast, unfortunately.
