Default Who rebuilt your dual distributor?

Due to the limited access to the proper parts or a poor assembly process, the dual distributor in our cars may receive a less than satisfactory rebuild from a durability standpoint.
Also, a key rebuilder has retired and is no longer providing rebuild services.
I am looking to compile a list of services that have produced a reliable distributor rebuild.
I would like to know of any who had a rebuild that was problematic.

Any feedback from the Rennlist community is greatly appreciated.
Andy

The faint noise you hear,,,, is 964/993 Ignition distributors going over a waterfall .. An excellent distributor rebuild resource "Wanted".

Have been meaning to service the 993s distributor .. So much for procrastination ..A tier-one, now retired rebuilder was in my own backyard. Damn.

I assume you're meaning Steve Weiner retiring? I had him rebuild mine 3 or 4 years ago. I am certain Rothsport can reliably rebuild your distributor. They're still open....

I had Steve rebuild mine previously, but I've also heard really good things about this guy- https://www.ebay.com/itm/272868674556? Looks like he's done everyone's in the EU-

Interesting. Just read through his description of work. Seems very comprehensive.

Patrick Motorsports did mine. I think they may have the parts available too for purchase.

I rebuilt mine with all new bearings, belts and everything 11Kmiles/2 years ago. Just rebuilt my alternator, same deal - all new bearings, slip rings, regulator etc. Going to do my starter next. Once you get the hang of pulling the bearings off, reassembly is easy with a 10 ton press. After reading the horror stories of refurbished parts from Bosch etc, I like knowing that EVERYTHING has been renewed and I'm good for the next 100k miles with essentially a new original part.

This. All. Day. Long. I have yet to see a replacement that is of original quality and reliability. I did the same a few years ago. Not a hiccup since.

True, but from what I've heard, it's really hard to find the bearings...

Did mine myself as well. Just replaced the belt but pressed everything apart. Bearings looked to be in nice shape but dry so cleaned and re-greased. Cleaned/lubricated the advance mechanism as well.

IMO it was easier to rebuild the distributor than getting the damn thing out of the engine

My initial thoughts are try Tony @ Callas Rennsport. Even if he doesn't do them likely he's got a recommendation.

Speaking of, what are peoples opinion on how often to put a couple of drops of oil on the felt pad?

I rebuilt mine recently without replacing the bearings. 96k miles and it looked original. Belt looked ok - my distributor had the air vent. I cleaned the bearings and re-greased them. It should last a while. The hardest part for me was drilling out the pin with hand drill and also mushrooming the new one in there. There is a document floating around with details and pictures on how to DIY.

I just looked at my old receipt from Rennsport Solutions, and damn, those bearings are crazy expensive!
