Estimated Time for Preventative Maintenance
Drop your car off the night before so that the highly skilled independent shop has your car the first thing in the morning. The highly skilled independent has lifts and agreed to start your car first thing the following morning. All of the work is preventative maintenance.
The scope of work is:
1. Change your oil and replace both of your oil filters.
2. Flush your brake lines, replace your fluid.
3. Flush you hydraulic clutch fluid, and replace your fluid.
No repairs are required, preventative maintenance only. What reasonable time would you expect for your independent to conduct and complete the above referenced scope of work?
Assume your car is not a race car.
Thank you!!

I had the exact same work done by my mechanic who completed it in 2.5 hours. I waited around for the job.

Three Wheelin'
I'd give it 5-6 hours start to finish. The mechanic will have interruptions and a lunch break. What might take 3 hours on a perfect day could reasonably go longer.
Also, it takes some time to push a lot of brake fluid through the system, even more if the mechanic does the full ABS bleed procedure with a scan tool.

Hi Harry,
Just make sure the guy doesn't rush it and spill oil backflow from the oil filler pipe onto the engine tin or in a few hundred miles he will be telling you your lower right side valve cover is leaking.
I would have them fill your car with 8 quarts of oil then take it home and drive it around getting it fully warmed up and add oil yourself to the bottom third of the dip-stick range. Many times shops overfill the oil on a 993 because they don't take the time to fully warm the engine before measuring the fill.
Andy;-)

An oil change in my garage without a lift takes me about 3 hours and I don't rush it.
That involves putting the car on jack stands and removing the passenger side rear wheel.
With a lift, it would likely take 2+ hours.

yeah it might have been closer to 3 hours max, but nonetheless he is an efficient, old school Porsche Mechanic, as the last 911 he worked on back in 1998 when he was with Porsche was the 993, before he went out on his own.
