so much poor information / uninformed opinion in this thread.
should probably stop here,
but
The "golden rod" is the linkage between the shifter and the transmission, it removes the "rag joint" in the linkage to reduce slop, improve feel / precision.
I'm unsure how it could cause oil starvation, but am open minded, sorta.
The SSK is the short shift kit, higher force, reduced throw as compared with the non-SSK shift lever linkage.
When i owned a 993, I was very happy with golden rod and unhappy with SSK, so I took it out and sold it.
for extra credit, does a typical SSK installation require dimpling of the ventral undercover tray immediately below the lower shifter rod????

I agree that the title of this post has negative connotations " Do not use?". Someone searching for info on my Golden Rod, may find this post and think "Oh, maybe I shouldn't get one?"
Even though the G Rods track record is well proven, with literally thousands all over the world, they may not read through the thread. Such is the internet, right?
I started my company from zero and worked my tail off to be successful, all out of my small shop, and feel extremely blessed to have met so many great Porsche nuts like myself on this journey.
I wouldn't change a thing. I don't get back to RList very often anymore, and just want to say thanks to everyone that has supported me over the years. Hopefully I will see a lot of you guys at some events coming up:
Luft 8, Deutsche Spritztour, Rennsport Reunion.
Be sure and say hi if our paths cross!

I have been running my Golden rod for two seasons ……. In a word its wonderful so much better than the factory sloppy feel
i would not switch back
I think op should change the title …… not cool to slam something without any proof and the title seems negative
how about a title like ……Golden Rod ….thoughts ?

Just another happy owner of the SSK/GR for the past 3 years/15,000 miles. Zero issues, all positives in terms of engagement and feel. No brainer upgrade, in my book.

been using the golden rod for years, AND i've been to the track with plenty of "aggressive" shifting. no issues. the sample size of those of us who have used the GR for years and love it, far exceeds your sample size of 1. i would NEVER go back to the sloppy sh!tty stock shift.
