Anyone know what is the type of replacement for the glove box light bulb?

Hi SDM
Porsche number 999 631 018 90, Sylvania number DE 3021, avoid swapping out with a LED bulb as it is part of the alarm/immobilizer system.

It does. I sporadically test my alarm system as I added a tracking device with sim, shock sensor and gps. For example opening the hood, I get the horn activated if I choose so and get called on the phone with car status and location etc.
I have silent alarm too which I use when I'm close to the car.
I think the alarm trigger is the contact on the lock and not the resistance of the bulb.
I maybe wrong though.

The supervision wire from the alarm is connected to the glovebox bulb, and detects the ground signal from the switch when the glovebox is opened.
Some LED bulbs will cause problems for the alarm function, since they do not present the same electric load on the circuit and does not conduct in the same way as an incandescent lamp.
If the LED bulb is equipped an internal load resistor it will most probably work fine. If not, the alarm can detect the lack of power supply through the bulb as the glove box has been opened.
Cheers,
Tore

Tore,
This is quite interesting. I did a lower dash delete a number of months ago and of course all of that was removed. Would it be best to simply short those two wires together to make sure no alarm issues come up?

If you're talking about the glovebox switch wires, you want to leave them open. Shorting them will simulate glovebox OPEN.
