Let me understand, direct-injected engines time the deposition of fuel in the cylinders directly allowing for an engine with greater timing advance and compression, making more power but now proving to not be immune to fuel preignition, go figure,

With no ability to wash the intake valves like our PFI 993's. Unless the vehicle has combined both DI and PFI to alleviate the DI issue which some manufactures have gone to. The F150 with 2.7 TT now has such.

Here is Mobil's Product Guide sheet from Feb 2018 vs May 2022. For Mobil-1 15W-50 (which is the weight I use), both Phosphorous and Zinc levels are the same between 2018 and 2022. The 2022 guide mentions SN Plus approval, which is new. I don't look at the other weights as I don't use them.

BTW - Mobil 1 Product Guides from 2009 and 2013 also show the same amounts of Zinc and Phosphorus as the 2022 Guide Shows (at least for 15W-50).

Each of these has a nominal zinc level of 900 ppm.
Hello, you may wish to be cautious w.r.t. using Mobil-1 Extended Performance 5W-30 and 10W-30 oils. Indeed after having the same amount of Phosphorous and Zinc from 2009-2019, you can see they reformulated these and dropped the amounts from 800/900 to 760/830 in 2022.

I use this because it's what the engine builder told me to. I've always avoided this debate and listened to the guy who assembled the thing. Take that for what you will.

Motul user here, but 993 now gone after 17 wonderful years. My 80-year-old knees curtailed my driving, but I still come back here to see what is happening with my huge favorite of 7 Porsches in 50 years of ownership (and to check out Gbos1's avatars).

Considering a Motul for my wife's new GR86 but I use Joe Gibbs Racing Driven GP-1 after talking at length to the LN Engineering guys. Change twice a year, only drive the car about 2x per week.
