Bil HD M030 to something softer advice
For the suspension gurus out there.
Have been running Bilstein HD and M030 spring for many moons now.
I'd classify them as a little harsh at times.
Wouldn't mind something a little more softer. Being able to keep a lowered height is required (+10 RS).
Will just going M033 give me what I want?
Or should I just go KW? Or something else.
If KW - v2 or v3.
Car is used mostly weekend. Spirited driving. No track.
Thanks in advance.

The Konis are great but will not give OP the desired lowered RS+10 ride height, especially with the rears being non height adjustable. Switching to M033 springs will help a little. From my various trials and tribulations with the past 6 993s, the PSS10 may be a little overkill for weekend duties, but will give you the ride/adjustability you want. I have no experience with KWs though.

Hi HayGee,
Are you running 18" wheels going to 17 or even 16, if they fit, will smooth out the ride significantly?
17" and 18" wheels became fashion over function on a 911 in the '90s, smaller rims with taller tires also give tire rollover feedback in the steering at the edge of grip. This is a significant safety feedback feature when driving near the edge.
Going with a progressive spring such as H&R offers may smooth things out a bit I suspect.
Also at the height you are running the travel on the suspension may be very short and on public roads, you may be hitting the rubber bump stops if your setup includes them on the struts or even hitting a hard bottoming out of the strut at times without them. If this is the case you may improve things by simply going to a height between USA and ROW Lowered height. (USA to USA minus 30).

I’m running Bilstein B6 with extended thread shocks with factory US springs on my 96.
My feeling is that it’s noticeably stiffer than with factory shocks. I know from past experience with adjustable shocks that most of the stiffness in suspension is in the shocks and not in the springs and so I am not surprised.

Gentleman,
I'm in a similar position as OP "Haygeebaby" searching for a primarily "road-worthy" shock/damper mated to PAG's RoW 993 M033 spring set. Running stock Cup II 17-inch alloy wheels as ordered.. .. Since the year 2000 had the RoW C2S OEM Monroe dampers mated with the C2S lower ride height M033 spring set,,, this suited me just fine, again riding on 17-inch Cup IIs alloys.
The Koni FSD style dampers I've learned do not fit the shorter length RoW M033 coil spring .. ?? When the Koni FSD & M033 springs are coupled,, however, their union is loose, to very loose...
The Bilstein B6 damper version with optional additional threads fitted to either the sport M030 springs or the lowering M033 springs does fit securely,,, however, the ride quality of the Bilstein B6 dampers is characterized as harsh.
Bilstein B6 long thread version,,, with custom valving? Is this possible? Buy a Bilstein B6 set engaging Bilstein South Carolina, USA to soften these puppies up???
Is it possible to add a threaded adjustment to the Koni FSD dampers? .. Hello local machine shop ??
I dunno,,, how is it that Koni hasn't addressed this 993 FSD & M033 application? Go figure.
'06 VW GTI : .. I've run the Koni FSD damper type coupled with North American VW/Eibach lowering springs** on our USA 2006 Volkswagen GTI (MkV) with great results. ** Ride height is that of the factory GTI German market OEM optional sport springs w/17-inch VAG alloy GTI wheels. .. A compliant, taught ride character, never harsh. 30mm lower ride height from N/A GTI MkV.

When I first put on B8 Sport HD short struts #195294 using ROW springs running on twist 18's I found city road bumps enough to cringe.
The last few years after struts settled in, I changed all front bushings, except in strut mount.
The change in ride has been transforming.
In 2022 add New front lower control arm - sport rubber bushings and I swear the car floats across the lowsy city terrain.
Add to this runnin on 17's the ride is smooth.
When I switch to 18's it noticably a ruffer ride
Bushings and rim size impact ride quality
