Missing wheel lock key
I bought my car in January. Just noticed the wheels are locked but the key is nowhere to be found, either in the glove space or in the trunk. Where do 993 owners normally place it? I emailed the selling dealer but it is doubtful that they can find it.
These seem like Porsche OEM wheel locks but I'm not certain. What are my options in getting them removed without the key? Thanks in advance.

That sure looks like a OEM lock, same as I had.
Maybe one of these threads will help:

Thank you! This is really helpful. I'll take it to the dealer to get rid of them and replace with the normal bolts.

Did you check your tool kit? Mine was in the tool kit in the end of the lug socket.

Former Vendor
If you send those photos to McGuard they will work out what socket you need, there are 30 different ones. Most good Porsche shops will have the set to remove or I have used a wheel nut removal socket before
Bin them and use a standard nut, the last reported case of wheel theft in the UK was 1995

no key
The easiest way to get them off is to take a socket that ALMOST fits over the locking lugnut and drive it over the nut with a hammer. Then just use your ratchet to gingerly remove the offending lug nut by hand without using any air tools.

had to do this a few years ago on my 993 since i lost the key. Went to the dealer so they could match the right key, bought a new key, and you are set. A lot of people take them off and replace them with regular (non keyed).

Hi Flyweight,
The keyed security nuts are not very strong and have proven to strip stranding some on the road with a flat tire. Once you get the key, or if not have the old security nuts drilled off with a steel hole saw positioned over the nut, consider getting five regular nuts and replacing the security nuts. Stolen wheels seem to not be a big issue with our cars anyway.

I ditched the locking lug and replaced with some Rennline black standard lug nuts.

Thanks folks. All this helped lower my blood pressure. I have had my share of battling the stripped bolts on my 993 seats lately so I'll happily take the car to the dealer to use their master key. And I'll replace those wheel locks with the normal nuts.
