Sold my 993 in 2020. Regretted that. Just bought it back.
I'm an old guy, and have had a bunch of cars, but just about always have had a Porsche in the stable since my $750 356C in 1973 in high school.
Anyway, for some reason I sold my 993 C4 a couple years ago to a great guy here on the forum. (It was actually the second polar 993 C4 I had owned, but that's another story).
Since then, the buyer and I have corresponded occasionally, and about a year ago, I told him that if he ever decided to sell it, he should let me know.
Two weeks ago, he told me he had decided to sell the car, and told me the price, which was a bunch more than I sold it to him for two years ago, but was in line with recent sales on BaT, etc., for low mile 993's (the car only has 33K miles). The next day I emailed him and said simply, "I'll take it."
So last week I did a one-way rental to Hickory NC and drove the car home. (Coincidentally, as I pulled the C4 onto I-40 in the rain, I was immediately passed by six or eight air-cooled 911's of different types, clearly on their way to or from an event.)
And now, the funny part, is doing the same little personalization /mods I had done in 2016, specifically "Carrera 4" center caps for the wheels, and front clear corner turn signals. (Tom had removed both of those and sold them!)
I couldn't find anyone still selling the clear corners (which are essentially sawed-off euro clear corners to fit on our US cars with bumperettes), so I bought a set of the euro ones and yesterday shortened them myself. Just waiting for the clear silicone to cure before reinstalling.
Anyway, glad it's back home.
Again.

Nice story. Cool that you got your old car back.
All 993's look much better with the orange front turn signals though.
For some reason the clear ones kill the character from the front end. At least to my eye.
Cheers.

Not the first time of heard of seller regrets so very nice you were able to get it back (now don't let it go again). These are the stories I use to wake me up whenever I think about selling.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that lol.
I like a monochromatic theme on this car- so I replaced the normal gold hood emblem with a silver one, replaced the front turn signals with clears, and replaced the wheel center caps (with the gold Porsche emblem) with the ones that just say "Carrera 4" in black type on a silver background.

Welcome back Kotter, I mean, @centerpunch ! I hear that the owner previous to the previous owner really did a number on the foglight housings, breaking the plastic lip into a zillion pieces to install some new-fangled lenses on the foglights. Wait till you figure out how to undo that guy's work! 😉

Thanks for sharing. Yet, another example of regretting selling a great car. Teaches us to never sell. Almost sold my 95 C4 three years ago as I was looking at a 97 C2S. Yes, wide body, split grill and varioram which is highly sought after. Glad I didn't pull the trigger as it was not in any where near the same shape as mine. Also have the same Continental radio which looks period specific. Get out and drive it!

congrats on getting it back...just curious what the "for some reason" was that made you sell it to begin with? i've thought of selling mine with the market the way it is, but have always stopped myself before making an irreversible decision. you are very fortunate, there are several others who have not been.

Two years ago I had my 993 and a 2006 Ford GT. The GT was my second one, and although I love the idea of that car, I finally realized that I really don't enjoy driving them. Too wide, too expensive, too attention-getting. (And those doors are infuriating.)
So I had the brilliant idea of selling both, and replacing them with a 2005 NSX. More practical and much cheaper than the Ford GT, and more exotic than the 993, but still very drivable. It seemed like the perfect combination.
But turns out I really wasn't comfortable driving the NSX around any more than the Ford. It's a concours-grade 2005 with only 16K miles.
If I was one of those guys with a building with room for a bunch of cars, I'd probably have a bunch. But with the world's smallest 3-car garage (20x28), I just don't have room to keep cars that I never drive, so shortly my fun-car inventory will be reduced to the 993, a Mazdaspeed Miata, and my GR Corolla. Should cover most bases.
Of course, this is all subject to change at any time lol......

Edit: I think I found them. Looks like 993-631-062-00-OEM and 993-631-061-00-OEM
Just ordered a set from Pelican Parts.
