Default Introducing my 993

Greetings! I picked up this 993 in December 2022 and have been working on getting it cleaned up back on the road. 1995 C2 Aventurine green Cashmere Interior 186K miles. It had a ton of leaks so Gary and Alphonso at GD Racing did a top end rebuild and reseal. 3.8. Fister stage 3 and SSK. If anybody has any 18" wheels RS splitters air Ducktails please let me know. Looking forward to seeing everyones cars! Top is how we Started and Bottom is how its currently looking

Well done sorting this out. Proper " while I'm in there" approach. Are those 16" it came with?

There is something to be said about having a rebuild when you acquire a 993. You know where you stand. Nicely done with & welcome to the madness.

How are you planning on getting past smog with the 3.8?

It is my First air-cooled so I can not tell the difference between the 3.6 and 3.8. We didn't change the cams so they said it probably adds about 20hp so maybe 290hp. I am waiting on getting the Steve Wong Chip. Car runs smooth and strong. 16s came with the car and I loved the way it rode and handled. 18s definitely feel much more harsh. I was able to SMOG the car before the rebuild so I have a some time until I deal with it again. Currently haver the seats out for a Reupholster.

I bought These Veloce 3.6 wheels and from the website they say it's a direct fit. Will these work on a 993 NB. We tried them on and they seem like they stick out. What do you guys think?

front 18x8 ET 52
rear 18x9.5 ET47

Lower the car, natural camber should take care of it. If not, run smaller tires

Offset is wrong for the rears. Should be 65 not 47. Those offsets are for a widebody. They won't work.

What about 17"? If you loved the 16" ride, you'll love 17" ride. Plus they look great and proper on a 993. I never knew smogging would be an issue with a 3.8.

Not typically on well-tuned engines. If you add RS cams, then yes, software is critical for passing smog.

edit: He's got a couple years to figure it out, as he said, so no worries there. I'm exploring options for my 993, and outside of the 3.8, cams, exhaust + ECU are the only options to boost HP and that will be a smog headache.

You could re-gear the trans (shorter gears). Stock USA gearing goes all the way to 186mph. We probably don't need that much in the USA.
