Was a special edition from the "Special Wishes" department, the Varioram manifold is made from 18K gold. It is thought to better conduct heat, reducing intake temperatures and resulting in a 15 hp bump, at the time a solid gold exhaust system was also available that provided another 15hp bump as well. Went well with the aftermarket gold-plated brake caliper cups that were said to shorten up stopping distance by 15 feet. These upgrades in addition to an aftermarket intake filter and a gold-plated gas peddle were said to add up to Turbo levels of price, err... performance without the complexity of the Turbocharging system.

My Targa is quickly approaching 100k miles, I offer it up at a steep 50% discount and will reluctantly let it go for 125k. HB sport seats and originals included. And I'll pay for shipping.

if it were a Carrera with 6K miles what would the asking price be? Is $250K really that far off for a 6,000 mile car? Maybe it won't sell for that, but it's really not that crazy of an ask in this market.
@Grapeape - 8 years? 100K miles! Hardbacks. Wow, we need to catch up...

Hey Mike, I think it was 9 years ago June. It took a lot of persuasion but my wife relented and agreed to cut the cashiers check then you and I shook hands and closed the best auto purchase of my life. After 31k miles over 9 yrs the targa has been bullet proof requiring minimal cost to run. I'm scheduled for a visit to Bodymotion to have some deferred maintenance items taken care of which will undoubtedly be a few larger ticket items but will be well worth the investment. Assuming my offer of 125k will considered unreasonable, I plan on putting another 100k on this car. I showed my wife the excellence ad cgfen posted to reinforce the fact that I'm an investment genius, lol.

97 Targa
Any item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If the seller can get someone to pay that price for a 97 Targa, more power to him. Even with the special wishes pedigree I don't believe it's worth that kind of money. As usual, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong.
