Stripped valve cover nuts. What to do?
Stripped nuts have been the part I hate the most about DIYs on my 993. I have the right tool (the L shaped wrench tool with the round stub at the end) and I was careful. But for the 3-4 screws I successfully loosened, I think I have 2 that were close to be stripped.
What are the safe ways to remove the stripped nuts on the lower valve cover on the passenger side?

Have you soaked the bolts in PB Blaster or Kroil? If not, start there and then use a quality bolt extractor. I have had success with the following:

The bolts protrude - you can get a small pair of vice grips on the outside and your allen wrench on the inside. Applying pressure simultaneously you shouldn't have a problem. Advanced tip, clean the hole where the allen wrench goes before starting. Sometimes they can be oily. From where

What JB said above ^^^. If no room to fit vice grips, then my thoughts would be to (1) try and wedge a torx bit and see if it will grip and failing that (2) use a hacksaw blade (with rag as handle) to file a slot and use that to turn the bolt.
I try to whack the face of any risky looking bolt or apply heat before hand, but space constraints preclude that for the valve covers.

Thanks folks. While my nut extractor set is on the way, I'll go ahead try the vise grip + torx approach. Will let you know.

Got the nut removal set. Thanks @Jlaa for the recommendation.
Picked the 10mm nut remover, lightly hammer it onto the stripped nut head, and just return anticlockwise. It came right off!
Thanks everyone for their help and advice. Feeling invincible now. :-))

Glad you got it!
as a side note, MacTools makes some great tools for stripped nuts/bolts. If you ever have a stripped Allen wrench bolt - like the ones for your seats, or the engine tray or muffler hangers etc… this extraction set works incredibly well…

… yes it’s not cheap, but it is like magic and has never failed me. Much better IMO than using torx head or a “normal” bolt extractor.
