Tiny powered subwoofer under passenger seat
My 993 OEM Hi-Fi system is anemic and I don’t want to take the plunge on a full speaker and amp replacement job quite yet. To tide me over I picked up a Pioneer TS-WX010A for $100 on eBay and installed it under the passenger seat, right next to the OEM Nokia amp. The dimensions of the Pioneer amp are exceptionally compact : 9"W x 2-3/4"H x 4-5/8"D
50w RMS is nothing to write home about, but with a max 4.2a draw, I was able to tap into the HU’s power wire rather than run to the battery in the frunk. My Continental HU doesn’t have RCA outputs, but the Pioneer has both RCA and speaker level inputs so I just grabbed those behind the HU and ran everything down and through the center console. I could have gotten these signals at the amp under the seat, but did not want to remove the seat to do so.
Result is what you would expect from a sub of this size/power. It won’t rattle the rear view mirror but it gives the Hi-Fi system a much needed fuller sound. I secured the sub with industrial strength Velcro so I can easy access the gain and high pass settings on its underside.
Anyway, I wanted to share this option for anyone else who is looking to enhance the OEM hi-fi system, but doesn’t want to do a full-blown system replacement or sacrifice footwells or backseats for a subwoofer.

This looks like a promising mod. Several dailies I've had have small subwoofers and the overall sound of the system seems notably better/fuller than those without. If you didn't want to tap into the head units power supply like the op did what would be the alternative route to power the sub?

Those who have mounted a small sub under the passenger seat, do you have standard or the sport seat option?
I have the hard-backed sports seats and unless the seat is raised all the way up and pulled almost fully forward, there's no way one of these subs would fit.
