Default Classic restoration

Hello to the board…

I recently came across a 993 that went through a “classic restoration “ through a local Porsche dealership.
From the R/O it appears that the car had a complete engine/transmission rebuild. A/C update and suspensions repair as needed.
Not sure what the total cost was to the dealer, but I would say it had to have been north of 40K at least on paper.
The car is a Cab and although they are asking what I consider on the high side 69K it is completely sorted car.
Has anybody had experience with these cars?

Thanks in advance and Enjoy 2024!

Peter

Was the rebuild due to high mileage? What is the mileage? Was it rebuilt to a 3.8 and tranny re-geared?

I was told that it was rebuilt by Porsche to enter their own dealership competition….68K on the miles and it was rebuilt to stock.

Sounds like a great car. Well sorted. Price seems good if you like the color/interior.

There are only a few Porsche Classic dealers. Suggest you take the VIN to them and start asking questions. I've seen the Classic shops, $40k in work seems light... depends on what was done could be a good car.

Is this the same car from a Delaware Porsche dealer? If it is the same car, there was prior discussion about the car. If I recall, the Porsche dealer's motivation was to obtain Porsche classic car certification. And now we have conflicting stories: dealership competition vs Porsche classic car certification.

Separate, but related issue: $69,000.00 is not an unreasonable price.

Car was originally from New Jersey….I searched the vin on the board, but didn’t come up with anything.
I know the market is softening, but what is the value of a complete “rebuild”?

Monterey, California. Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) has announced the 2023 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge winners. Judging occurred during Rennsport Reunion 7 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, September 28 – October 1.

Now in its third year, Porsche Centers across the United States were invited this year for the first time to compete in one of three categories: Preservation, Restoration, and Individualization.

Entries from three sales areas – East, South-Central, and West – were judged at one of three central events. Area winners were on display during Rennsport Reunion 7, where the champions were crowned. The crowd also voted on an overall "People's Choice" award. The winners were crowned during the event.

"Sharing this year's Restoration Challenge finalists at Rennsport Reunion 7 has provided an exhilarating platform, not only for Porsche Classic but for our Porsche Center finalists to share their cars and passion," said Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic. "Seeing the crowd's reaction to the amazing craftsmanship is a joy."

A number of local Canadian dealers were involved in this competition last year.

Honestly, if a car was completely restored by a certified Porsche Classic dealer, $69k is a steal.

Work was done by Paul Miller in 2002
why would a 5 or 6 year old car need a “restoration”? Sounds more like a ‘repair” after some sort of damage. Flood car?

Typo by the op?? Op, please clarify the date of the restoration and where the restoration was performed, not a name.
