No need to be sorry - every day is a learning day!

It is not usual that anyone at official Porsche garage knows anything about any 993 - and so I would find a local indy garage that *does* know the 993 if you need any work doing to the car.

Guys, that seems nuts ... is it a full gearbox or really parts for regearing only?
I paid in Germany 3 years ago about $13K for a 996 GT3 box, completely regeared with cup and guard gears and new R&P, steel syncros and 80/80 diff lock ...

g96.91?

Did it bolt right in, seems to be here was a dimensional difference as w/ the 993turbo g64s

also the end mount is different did a 993 end cap bolt on?
did you use the cooler?

Actually the box is a mix out of 996 GT3 and turbo. I was told that all boxes from the 996/7 GT3 and turbo fit the engine.
What was done is that the bell housing and shaft are shortened by 15mm and the starter got a distance piece. This so that the cable fit. The end cap got a custom made bracket. Installed without cooler.

1996 4S = definitely yes as confirmed when I spoke to a guy at the Porsche Special Wishes department at the museum in ~ 2009.
me = I have a sweet 1996 4s
Him = too bad about the long gearing.

The only way to get the short gear from Europe is on 95' NB and i believe some early 96's so no such thing a short gear C2S since those were 97-98' only..
