The X50 had 430PS /424HP and was the same for 96/97/98. In 98 only they offered a second powerkit option XLC that boasted the 450PS 444HP output. The same as the ROW turboS and 98 only GT2.

Thanks for the info.

So if I understand this correctly only the 1998 ROW 993 turbo, turbo S with option XLC are the most powerful factory 993 turbo and 98 street GT2? Something to think about if I'm on the lookout for another 993 turbo. Turbo S and GT2's are just way out of reach IMO no matter the production year.

All 98 turboS's and 98 street GT2's came with the higher output setup. It was an (XLC) option on the '98 base turbos. Yeah it's fun to look over in Europe and other places at cars for sale. Different options we didn't always get here etc. To confuse things more the powerkits are also commonly referred to as WLS1 and WLS2 over there. The kits were also available as a dealer add on or you could buy the kit from the parts dept and have your indie install them. Many available with these kits for sale in Europe. To tell if it was a factory car it will have the X50 or XLC on the sticker/option list and the stamp on the engine case unless it was fitted with a replacement case at some point. Plus many times you can tell from the year right away. If you see a 96 WLS2 you know it was an add on as there were no factory 96 WLS2's. Nothing wrong with it. Same kit just not factory.
