Semi-daily driver insurance

Semi-daily driver insurance
I have read many of the insurance posts. What insurance are daily drivers using? I have Hagerty now because I needed a quick insurer. I would like to drive my car to work once a week and occasionally on weekends. While I won't drive it anywhere close to daily, I don't really want to have to think twice about taking it out of the feeling arises which is honestly every day but I have restraint.

Check if Porsche Auto Insurance if it is available in your state. All of the benefits of collector car insurance with none of the restrictions.

I will play
State Farm. I am 52 years old. We have 5 cars. The 1990 s2 cab has an agreed value of $20k. We pay $23 a month for full coverage. $460 a year in St. Louis. We average 3000 a 5000 miles a year.

I also use State Farm Collector Car insurance for my collector cars. Underwriting has certain criteria you must meet to qualify, one of which is limited use of the vehicle. This is not an issue because none are driven daily. Porsche writes insurance in Pennsylvania. I have been told they (Porsche) allow more frequent use of my cars. I bundle my homeowner's, commercial auto, and collector's policies with State Farm and in exchange receive significant savings. But for bundled savings, I would be with Porsche so I can drive more frequently.
Don't pay any any mind to your agent expressing that you can drive frequently.
Follow the policy. "Claims" looks for every way to deny claims. And in today's digital world, including camera's and cell phones, you are tracked easily.

Try Grundy - bottom line is that it's often not the company, but a variety of factors that influence your rate:
- your credit score
- your zip code
- garaged?
- # miles driven/year
- age
- usage
- your driving record
Among the most expensive cars to insure are those with the most claims such as
Kia, Hundai, Ford trucks
If you drive a Kia on the coast in FL, speed alot, are < 25. and have a bad credit score you are going to get hosed.

I also use State Farm . Agreed value insurance on my 1995 C4, valued at $65,000. I’m limited to 5,000 miles a year, but we have two other cars. They offer higher mileage tiers for higher premiums.

American Modern Insurance company is one you should look into.
They offer variety of yearly mileage coverage including unlimited. However, keep in mind that more you tell them the more premium they charge.
They also offer variety of coverages even one that allows you to drive to work when you want. They offer the most flexible collector car insurance policies than anyone else I have found.

I had Hagerty for about 12 years but last year I moved to Grundy for almost half the price for similar coverage. Agreed value 90K, which I need to increase slightly, for 700 a year in California. Hagerty was about 1300.00.
My 67 912 is with AAA collector policy agreed value 60K for 350 a year.
im not sure what state you are in. RC

For those of you with State Farm, their collector insurance seems to be like most speciality insurances ( straight from their site) :
From my limited search , it looks like State Farm partnered with Hagerty for the collector insurance.

- Your antique or classic car must be used on a very limited basis, such as infrequent pleasure driving, shows, exhibitions, club activities or parades. It can’t be your primary use vehicle.

I use Grundy, agreed value, $165K, cost $633/year - 3,000 mile usage limit
What they do to check your designated agreed value request is reference o-nline adds.
Most dealers overprice the 993s
I have seen C4s prices close to $200K on cars with close to 90K miles - not sure what dealers do this? Perhaps they sell to customers at a big discount to make it look like they are getting a deal.
It seems that many of the cars are the same and languish at the dealer - problem cars?

My personal experience with “agreed value” is if you tell them what you want as your insurance value and it’s a reasonable current market value they will agree and provide you a quote. I suspect if your value is way off base they will provide you some feedback or suggestions on a agreed value.
It has never been an issue for me but I would just know what it would cost to replace your car if you have a total loss and use that as a gauge.
By the way in more than 20 years of collector insurance I have never had a carrier question my value or my mileage. I have also never had a claim so I cannot speak to how good any carrier is if you have a claim. Maybe someone else can speak to that element to assist you on which carrier to use.
good luck on your insurance quest. RC
