Do all 95 NB's Have Short Geared Trans?
Hi Rennlisters,
I have not been able to find definitive information on this topic (yes, I have searched!). I know that some 95 C2 models do come with the "euro-spec" short geared 6 speed trans. Is it the case that ALL 95 C2 NB US models came with the short geared trans? Anyway to tell if yours did? Not sure if it is an option code or not.

Pretty sure none of the US 993's came with the short geared box only a few of the early ROW's did. It would be both on your option sticker and stamped on the gear box itself. G50/20 is the standard and G50/21 is the short.

Why did I think that US 95's were the only US made 993's that came with the short geared box?

the type and serial # are on a boss on the bottom of the trans, this a a 993rS g50/31 serial #002681 , the 2 after the 31 means it has a lsd, an open diff is left blank.
There are 2 versions of /20
versions through serial #02693 open dif or 02174 M220(lsd) have a separate second gear, versions after have an integral 2nd gear, all versions of the /2x have an integral 1
only the /3x have separate 1st gears

Trust me … a re-gear completely changes car! Worth every penny! Did mine several years ago and worked with G-Box in CO. Wouldn’t want to imagine the cost today.
