Default New elastic straps for cab top

I bought these a few months ago and the string of nice South Florida weather has me enjoying top down driving. I finally went to replace the worn out elastic straps inside the top. The old ones were so worn out and stretched out. Side by side comparison. I did destroy one of the pieces cardboard that hold the straps. Does anyone know where to get a replacement or the part number if it even has one?

I did this a while ago. Had a bunch of the paperboard pieces made in our shop. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you 2.
Here's a very good video of the repair.

alsamrob4,

Very helpful video. Does the top need to be removed in order to replace the elastic straps?

Thanks.

I was able to do it without removing the top. A longish screw driver helped. Scraped a few knuckles, but it's pretty easy.

There is a thread on RL that also detailed it with the top on, but I can't locate it. IIRC, I put the top down about halfway to access the screws and swap out the elastic

As a fix, I give it a B. I still manually push that bar back to make sure that the pins don't pinch my top when the top is down. Not sure whether it was operator error or the new elastic straps aren't up to the task.

Thanks for your quick response. Great video. Great advice. I remember the thread that you referenced in your response, but searching in Rennlist is difficult.
Thanks again!!

I watched the same video. The lower loop did not have a screw like the one in the video. Mine are held by metal bent like a paperclip. Maybe since it is an early build.

I would love to follow your lead on this DIY, that said, can you tell us where you found them and how much?
Much thanks.

Are you looking for the elastic straps or the paperboard pieces that slide into the top bow piece?

alsamrob4,

Although this message was not directed to me, I am interested in where both straps and the cardboard can be sourced.

Thank you!

Did this replacement a number of years ago, so went back through my orders and I believe the cardboard at the end of the elastic straps is part number 993-561-835-00.

I would say, I'm not positive, so please check it before ordering.

Can confirm the part # for the paperboard is accurate. They have doubled in price to $4.04. The elastic straps are ridiculous at $40+ each. This thread has a DIY to salvage the paperboard piece as well as make your own elastic straps at post #36.
