Default Wiper Blade Replacements - Bosch 3397001472 <-- don't use this

FYI ---- I decided to replace my wiper blades and elected to pay $20 some odd dollars instead of $60 some odd dollars by purchasing Bosch-branded blades as opposed to purchasing Porsche-branded blades made by Bosch. In retrospect, that was a mistake because the Bosch-braded blades are not functionally the same. Hopefully this will help someone in the future.

When I bought my 993 back, it had a new set of the wrong blades installed.

For anyone who needs to order, here are the correct part numbers from my Pelican Parts order.

Nice. You can still get the wiper blades for under 50 clams if you buy from the right Porsche dealer, but geez, the rubber buffer has shot up in price since you last bought them..... They are 4x the price now.

Pelican still shows $4 for the Bosch bumper, but they do also have the Porsche part for $16. The Bosch bumper works fine.

I’ve had multiple sets of these Bosch Twin 472 blades, there’s room for the rubber widget too. Under $30 a set IIRC, bought the most recent set from FCP Euro…so the lifetime warranty applies with these now.

Gratuitous back ground for additional effect…

Is the rubber stopper necessary? I haven't put mine back on and I can't tell the difference.

I went through a similar discovery when I replaced my wipers : https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...blade-fun.html

Also the Bosch set 472 has a 15" and a 17" blade, better to just buy the 15" & 18" on their own at half the price, and these do have the oval holes for the buffer

If you are stuck you can retain the original wiper frame and just replace the rubber blade. Just a matter of bending the end retaining clip open remove the blade and replace with new. If the blade is too long cut the rubber and use the original metal support strips.

The correct fitment for the wiper blades is with the top blade resting against the rubber bumper on the lower blade, so the wipers form an A shape. This means they will hardly be visible from the drivers seat and will not get tangled up on fast speed. Only the Bosch wipers have the correct shaped hole to accept the buffer.

Hi @Magdaddy - Really? Your Bosch 472 wiper blade sets have a provision for mounting the rubber buffer?
This Bosch set that I bought is also Bosch 472 (full number 3397001472). See picture below. And yet ---- no provision for the rubber buffer. So strange!

Thanks, right, my goal was to replace the entire blade ---- the originals are a little sandblasted after 28 years ...... gonna try to return these Bosch 472s back to eEuroparts....

Maybe yes maybe no, but I just want it to be correct.

@Jlaa no round hole, but the rubber spacer widget snaps around securely on the blade. No picture available, as the car is at a shop out of State.

These are what the originals look like. One blade shorter than the other and the correct shaped holes for the rubber widget (count them nine for the top one, six for the bottom). I bought a SWF set from Rosepassion recently but they were wrong so check first!

The individual Bosch blades have the oval holes so at least they match!

Well! I was able to return the Bosch 472s without having to pay for return shipping --- I successfully argued that the product was designed incorrectly.
I bought original Porsche branded wiper blades from the dealer --- Taiwan manufacturing for the win!

So what is the exact length of each rubber blade on the wiper you received? I am trying to verify mine.

Thx much!
