Default 2024: 993 PPI in New York / New Jersey / Connecticut

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a Porsche 993 Carrera, and I would like some recommendations on specific shops / mechanics that work on Porsche 993 in the New York metropolitan area;
-- New York
-- New Jersey
-- Connecticut

Also, upon skimming through some 993 PPI threads here on Rennlist, pp000830 suggested it may be useful in guiding the inspector on what to look at here -> https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...-purchase.html

Any other resources to include?

Hope this thread can serve as a resource for future PPI searches for the New York metropolitan area.

You can't go wrong with:

Gaspare at Gaswerks Garage in Paramus
gas at gaswerksgarage dot com
Two 0 one 2 six 7 eight8 five 0

Only challenge might be getting his time as he's usually very busy.

Also recommend: Bill Rudtner at South Shore Performance on LI.

Let me know if I can be helpful. Are you buying from an individual or dealer?

Formula 1 Motorsports for sure. Only does Porsche, and he does a ton of PPIs for buyers across the country. He did mine. Good luck!

If in NJ, then I would recommend Protosport or PowerTech.

On Long Island, in Amityville I highly recommend Ken at German Auto Repair. He has been watching over my 993 for >15 years

Agreed, and I did! Google "Formula 1 Motorsports" yourself

Thank you all for the recommendations!

PPI definitely worth it, but your own personal knowledge is very valuable too.

Learn as much as you can and lay eyes on the car yourself too and check as many things as you can.. You have skin in the game, the guys that do PPI don't..

When I bought my car, one of the guys on this list did the PPI. The one expensive thing he knocked was a sunroof noise - said the unit had to be opened up to addressed. Seller credited me $1,500. Turns out the problem was a rattle from the cassette holder on the center seat console (totally normal). I removed the cassette holder and the rattle was gone.

PPI is only as good as the person doing it - you yourself, with effort and learning can probably do 75% of what they will look for. Porsche 993 buying guide is a very good source.

I have been using Protosport in Hanover NJ (near Morristown) and Rennwerke in Elmsford NY (near White Plains) for the past ~10yrs - both very knowledgeable and know their way around 993s. This is after some trial and error (mostly error) with other several other shops in the area.
