Seemingly every seller of those don't really care to sell and are some of the flakiest people on earth.
Similar experience. Have a pal who swears by those engines and he is also hockey goalie. Exponential flakiness

Ive purchased 2 993s from long distance in the last 6 months
one low mileage c4s
one 60k mile c2
It may not help that you are in canada if you are purchasing cars from the US though.

Hi Onami,
It may not be bad intent. In the old days folks sold and purchased cars privately all the time. Today fewer folks do this and the ones who do may no understand how to conduct an arms-length selling transaction.

Could be Andy. I’ve been buying all of my cars and bikes from the US since 1996….we’re talking at least 50 as I normally have 2-4 toys at a time. I’ve never had reluctance until the last 2 attempts. Maybe just bad luck. Any normal folks looking to sell a low mile 993, let me know!

I need a Time Machine to go back to my avatar days - 12,500 mile C2S and a 10,000 mile full leather C2 for a total investment of about US$82k! Bring back 2008!

This. I’ve purchased three 993’s and a 964 this way with no issues. I drove my C2S back from Ohio, and the 964 from Fort Lauderdale. Great memories.

I represented a federal prisoner whose nickname was the Vault. He had a unique way of transporting things he didn't want found

A certified check. The point is you can look for barriers, or opportunities.

I wouldn’t accept a bank cashiers check, and let the potential new owner drive away…takes almost 7 working days for that bank check to clear.

That being said, I VERY reluctantly took a check from a Porsche dealer(a Penske dealership), for a Cayenne I sold a few years ago. Buyer wanted to finance it thru them, to build his credit. It was a strong number for the Ute, they wouldn’t do a wire transfer.

I’ve done a that number of times in the days before wires became the most accepted form of long distance payment. According to my bank manager (and CPA son with banking experience), there are many more instances of fraud with certified funds vs wires. I would not accept either without a few days delay before pick up to ensure no chance of fraud. But to get back on track, this issue had nothing to do with payment method…the seller didn’t want to reveal his address to me.

I never seem to have these issues. I find the perfect car and I keep it. Why sell something that would be hard to replace.
