Anyone drive their 993 around Charleston, SC?
When visiting, I noticed:
- the population has exploded
- infrastructure has not
- there is a auto accident attorney billboard very few miles (road) or every few minutes (TV) - not surprised, must be
plenty of business
- the traffic before 9am or after 330pm is a nightmare, a 5 mile drive takes 30+ minutes
- drivers are speeding, driving recklessly, or on their phone (often at the same time)
I couldn't imagine driving my car down here, accidents waiting to happen all over the place.

As a Daniel Island(Charleston) resident I feel your pain. Everyday. There are very few days I will take my car out on the roads. If I want to avoid the highways because of traffic I will have to take backroads with construction. Neither is a good option. Things are bad right now and will only get worse in March with the start of spring break.

Early Sunday mornings or weekday evenings are best.
Always important to get to the elevated city garages during floods/hurricanes-- all the interesting/great cars come out of hiding.
Stay off the cobblestones.....

very timely thread. I am planning ahead a number of years when I can get off the hamster wheel and I am scouting out places to settle in.
I don't want to derail the OPs thread but please PM me if you are willing to discuss the pros and cons of living in and around Charleston
TIA

Been going to Charleston SC since the 90’s and damn has it exploded in population! Over congestion, terrible drivers, but great foodie town! Locals are fed up I can tell you .. not the same town it used to be unfortunately. Isle of Palms is where I plan to settle down outside the city.

Being named a top 10 city to live in the last 5+ years hasn't helped. Had 2 kids go through college there, and witnessed the change just in the last 5 years.
Still a great spot.

This is my first post in many years due to several major life changes. We decided to leave Seattle during the COVID pandemic due to the crime, drugs, homeless, etc. We sold both homes in Washington State and built a cabin with a big barn in Maine and bought a townhome in Charleston for winters. Our daughter has been living and working for Boeing in Charleston for the past 10 years and visiting with her and enjoying the food, culture, history, etc. drove our choice. I also sold all of my toy cars other than the 993 when we made the cross country move. There is a good car scene here with regular car related gatherings (Mt. Pleasant C&C on Saturday mornings and Ale & Octane monthly) along with some very good Pcar shops here in Charleston as well, so service is not an issue. I take the 993 to Autometrics. I am not much of a C&C person and having come from Washington which has some incredible driving roads, I have yet to find anywhere enjoyable to drive in the Charleston area so I am going to move the 993 to Maine this spring. Full disclosure - I have not engaged with the local PCA region folks so there may be more to the driving scene here than I am aware of.
