Belts change problem
Hi, I want to change the alternator and fan belts. I had done that many times before but I am not able to remove the outer half pulleys. It’s stuck. Maybe it is because I had used the new upgrade half pulleys last time.
Before I remove that whole fan unit out from the car, I am wonder if anyone can give me some tips to remove that please? Thank you.

Thanks everyone for the reply. Appreciated.
I have the pulley puller but I have to remove the whole fan unit in order to have enough room to use it. Before I do that I am looking for any alternative which I can remove the half pulley while the fan is in the car. Thks

1. Cut the belt as advised.
2. If the outer pully still won't wiggle out, spray some PB Blaster (great stuff, btw) in there, let it sit for a bit, and tap lightly with a non-marring mallet.

Hi Kevin,
Can you provide some information as to how you are attempting to remove the nut? Are you using a star wrench in the socket on the end of the alternator shaft to lock the shaft while releasing the nut? Is the bracing of the star wrench rigid so a small amount of shock can be applied to release the nut?
