Good point! I just replaced my lenses, because of the yellowing inside piece. Will get this done. I wonder if it provides some UV protection to prevent future yellowing too.

Just installed a fresh set of lenses... what a difference it made! Nonetheless I like the idea of the protective film, especially if you are on the track.

I just checked and neither L or R headlight lens are NLA. They're both showing as available from Porsche.

Would be very odd for those parts to go NLA in my opinion. It's not some obscure part w/ little demand.

The original Bosch lenses are NLA. The current ones manufactured by MM/AL are not the same.

Was the install easy? I used Laminex on a different car years back with curved headlight lenses, it was somewhat difficult to get to lay flat, doubt that would be an issue with 993 lenses but was curious.

Interesting. Any idea when they switched over?

Also does anyone have pics showing the differences?

I've been running the non-tinted ones since I replaced my lenses a few years ago. Cheap insurance.

Very easy to install using the wet/water method. NO dawn soap added.
U will need a hair dryer or heat gun to make the film to lay flat on the very top of the 993 lens.

Took me 15 mins to install. No wrinkles or air bubbles.

Good luck

I purchased a set of headlamp protectors from Darrin at FD Motorsports a few years ago. Truthfully you cannot tell they are there but they definitely protect the glass. Highly recommend them. I’m sure he still sells them. RC

Difficult to say for sure because I think that there was a transition period of sorts. I have a NOS set that are in BOSCH boxes but have AL stickers on the sides of the lenses - which I have had for at least 12 years... These lenses are exactly the same as the ones currently on my 993 (which are probably 15 years old and not original to the car) except for the installed set have BOSCH stickers.

I have read more than once that the fluting of the current MM/AL lenses are different from the BOSCH/BOSCH AL lenses but I don't have pictures or proof.
