Removing Scratches on Shift ****
Installed this 996 shift **** this weekend. Love the way it feels.
The aluminum (at least I think it's aluminum) has a few holidays I would like to buff out. Has anyone done this? Any tips? I've read how to fill scratches and polish generic aluminum, but I'm wondering if that would ruin this finish etc.
Any advice appreciated.

Your scratches don't look that deep so can probably light polish off. I tried on mine but couldn't get them even and ended up took it to a local place for bead blasting. I like how they turned out!

That is very nice. Does anyone know how the aluminum section on the **** is fastened? There are 2 screws in the top under the shift pattern, but there was no movement even with those removed. Is it glued down? If so, getting it bead blasted is unlikely because I just had the leather redone.

Thanks. Donald at Dallas Custom did it for me. The color is browner than the Boxster Red, but not as brown as the original chestnut. It's a little redder. The boot in the photo is made from the original chestnut brown. In certain light they are spot on matches. In other light, the color difference is evident, but it is subtle.
