O.K. I cut the muffler in half.... now what???
Car's too quiet, I see everyone talking about the RSR mufflers so I cut one in half. Does anyone know what to do next?

If anyone does know what Robin does to make the RSRs they will probably keep it to themselves out of respect for the fact that he has given so much to the 993 community.
Having said that I admire your gung ho DIY spirit If you are prepared to weld and cut a few times then why not slowly take out more step by step and see how you go. Removing the packing material alone should make some difference and reduce the weight.
Good luck!

Robin does not give detailed instructions on how to modify the muffler. Only the proceedure for cutting it apart, and welding it back together. I think you are on your own on what to remove...etc.
I am going to be doing this to my mufflers soon. I talked with Robin when he came to the Bay Area, and he told me for starters, remove anything that's not welded in. He wouldn't give anymore details after that.
You may have to try a couple of different mod's, to find out what sounds good. Keep us posted,as I will be doing this same modification soon.

This subject came up yesterday betwen MAC993 and myself as we were out for a drive. He has Robin's RSR's, mine were modified by Hergesheimers. There was a very distinct difference between the 2, mine being a bit more throaty with no resonance or obtrusiveness at idle. I'd give Mark a call at Herge and see if they'd be willing to help you out. I'm sure whatever they do, it's very easy.
