Not much point meeting at 35/92 just to drive down the hill...might as well just meet at Joe's for the BBQ.

Is anyone up for a early morning or early afternoon BAR before the BBQ. Due to other family commitments I don't know if I'll be able to make the afternoon BBQ. Just wondering

I'm game for an afternoon drive before the BBQ. If early morning than I'm out all day for car stuff. Feeling a little guilty towards my lovely wife.

Hi Jim,

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding... i was not planning on just driving down the hill to Half Moon Bay.

What i had in mind for the drive was:

Take hwy 35, turn right on hwy 84, and then turn right on hwy 1 heading to Joe's. This drive should last about 40-45 minutes.

As always, we're open to any suggestions

I think there's going to be lots of people and cops on those roads in the afternoon.

Pin/Joe:

As Eric mentions, hwy's 35, 84 and 1 will be heavily patrolled this time of day on a weekend. I realize that we have no reason for concern on our BAR drives (;^) but none the less a line of P-Cars is a big temptation to Smokie...

If you check a San Mateo County map, there are some good back roads off 35 that head down to HWY 1 a little north of 84. You might consider one of these as an alternate.

Another suggestion is to simply meet at 35/92 for a BAR photo with Jeff (if he wants to) or possibly the same photo idea somewhere close to Joe's. The idea here is to line up folks and cars for a "historic" photo.

I'm up for a group photo anywhere. There are probably some really nice places around Joe's place as well, but I don't know that area too well.

We could do the Doc Wong route. Still following Pin's original route, but before hitting Hwy 1, turn left through Pescadero, and into the back roads. This dumps us off at Gazo Creek Rd and Hwy 1. From there, we could head back to my place.

Or continue on with the run up through Bonny Doon and the Empire Grade, down Jameson Creek Rd (which is pretty rough) to Boulder Creek, up Hwy 9 to the intersection of 9 and 35. Then bak to my place.

The whole run would take about 2 1/2 hours. The first part about 1 3/4 hours.

That sounds like a nice route Joe,

I'm really up for anything.. just as long as I get to see Jeff/Lisa and hang out with them before they leave

A group photo is a great idea... maybe after the BBQ, we can head to the beach and get a group-sunset-pic (a somewhat nice background for Jeff's "farewell" moment? ).

Default PLS EMAIL ME

To ensure we have an accurate count for the dinner, and to try not to miss anyone if we go on a pre-dinner ride, please email me directly at ramosrx7@pacbell.net (I know I need to change my email address!!) to confirm your attendance and how many will be coming. Thanks.

The date for the BBQ will be Saturday, 8/21, at my home in Half Moon Bay. Address is 205 Miramontes Ave., zip 94019, phone is 650 726-3908. Map it for directions, or email me.

I don't know what the BAR protocol is, but I propose to get all the food and drinks, then attendees can reimburse me fair share. Is that OK?

I'll BBQ marinated tri-tips and some fish. I will need a second grill to do the fish as I am allergic to most seafoods, so can't prepare them on one grill. I'll also prepare a green salad, and a veggie of some sort. Beer, sodas and wine will also be supplied. Is that OK?

Any particular items wanted/needed, please post here so everyone sees what is being requested.

There will be a ride before or after the BBQ, TBD. Pin is in charge of the ride whatever is decided.

Default No Ride

There will not be a ride, too many bikers, CHP and tourists. The plan is to meet at 3 PM at the vista point at the upper intersection of 92 and 35, take a group pic with the Bay in the background, then I'll lead down to my house for the BBQ. After dinner, find a spot for another pic with the sun setting in the background.

As previously posted, please email me confirmation of attendance.

Thanks

Joe,

Thank you for being such a great host. I had a wonderful time. In fact, so good that we somehow forgot to take pictures of Jeff and his tts.

Well, at least we will see him back here in about 6-7 months.

Jeff anf Lisa, best wishes for a new adventure, and enjoy your new surroundings. See you folks soon.

Great BBQ, great folks.

Joe: Thanks for the hospitality and the work in organizing. It was a near perfect HMB afternoon/evening !

Jeff, we'll see you when you get back. Still thinking of an older P-Car? 356??? Let us know. FWIW, I have always wanted a 356"B" roadster, maroon with tan....yum.

Stay cool !
