Farewell BBQ for Jeff Chan, 8/21
Jeff Chan is leaving the Bay Area for a period of time, and we'd like to have a get together to bid he and Lisa farewell. (I am keeping Jeff's 993TT safe and secure in my garage.)
The date for the BBQ will be Saturday, 8/21, at my home in Half Moon Bay. Address is 205 Miramontes Ave., zip 94019, phone is 650 726-3908. Map it for directions, or email me.
I don't know what the BAR protocol is, but I propose to get all the food and drinks, then attendees can reimburse me fair share. Is that OK?
I'll BBQ marinated tri-tips and some fish. I will need a second grill to do the fish as I am allergic to most seafoods, so can't prepare them on one grill. I'll also prepare a green salad, and a veggie of some sort. Beer, sodas and wine will also be supplied. Is that OK?
Any particular items wanted/needed, please post here so everyone sees what is being requested.
There will be a ride before or after the BBQ, TBD. Pin is in charge of the ride whatever is decided.

Thanks Joe and Pin for organizing this. Instead of fish, we can also get veggie burgers, then we wouldn't have to get a 2nd grill.
Joe has been extermely nice about transitioning me the being p-car less. However.. it would really help if he made a spare key for me. hehe..
Please email Joe and Pin so they can get an accurate headcount and I hope to see everybody there.

Kary, drive up! It's not that far at all. Probably around 80 miles. You can bring my oil cooler if I don't get it beforehand
I'm going to try real hard to make the BBQ but I may be in MN that weekend.

It's close to 90 miles and takes about 2 hours with the normal crappy traffic in Santa Cruz. However, it's a beautiful 60 mile drive up Highway 1 from Santa Cruz to HMB. I've done it in about 1:20 in early morning (non-existent) traffic (in the ML and not the 993!).

I was thinking maybe we should do the drive before the BBQ? Some people might drink during the BBQ so it might be a bad idea to drive afterward?
How about meeting at the intersection of Hwy 92/35 (our old meeting point) and drive thru Hwy 35, turn right on Hwy 84 going West, turn right on Hwy 1 going North to Half Moon Bay (Joe's place) for BBQ.
Kary, at turn 8 of Laguna Seca, try to look far ahead towards the ocean (instead of down) and you should be able to see Half Moon Bay from there, it's really not that far

Addison, I happen to be going up that weekend for several events in Los Gatos. I plan to leave Friday the 20th at about 8 a.m ish. If I take 101 up I'll stop in Montery for lunch. I am also thinkng about taking the coast all the way up. It would be more fun with more p-cars on that road. I then must head up to Los Gatos for a Firday night event, and another Saturday morning. Then I would head over to the BBQ in the afternoon, returning to Los Gatos for an evening event. I will return to LA on sunday afternoon via the 5 (I could use a back door for the return trip!).
Sound interesting? BTW, I have my car back and I'm ready for the ridge route.
p.s. only three to go until post # 993

Well guys, that is a long drive after driving up from San Diego on Thursday with a trailer, racing all day Friday and Saturday, then driving over to HMB and back, then racing Sunday, then hauling the trailer back to San Diego on Monday. Unfortunately I am going to have to pass on the get together. I hope of a few of you will be able to stop by Laguna if you are available to see me and Martin!
