Default 993 Bra

Anyone know a good source for a 993 bra? The search function was not working when I tried to search the threads. Thanks.

BTW, I am taking the 993 on the track for the first time at a PCA event in Sept, hence the bra question...I have taken my 928S on the track many times, but trying to keep the 993 looking good.

I would advise against the usual bra. I used one on my car once and ended up with more scratches due to the bra than I ever did running without it. Dirt and stuff gets stuck under the part of the bra that goes over the head lights and just rubs and creates scratches.

if you want something to protect the front hood get the Elephant Racing Track Skins.

Good luck and enjoy your first track event, but be careful of the slippery slope that it creates. If you are like 99% of the other rennlisters, once you've done the track there is no going back.

I've taken my 928S on the track several times at PCA DEs. The 928S does good on straight aways and not so good in corners, which is one reason I was inspired to get a 993, being on the track with them, watching them in the corners pulling away... I haven't taken my 993 on the track yet, I am going to a PCA DE in September, I am really looking forward to it.

Like swiftiii, I would avoid getting the bra. It abrades the paint along the top of the fenders.

Years ago I bit the bullet and installed the 3M clear plastic to the paint. I feel it has done wonders to protect the paintwork.

Another option, you can just use racing tape on all leading edges for the track. Plus taping a mag bra will help the hood. Agree using the standard colgan bra can be trouble if not extra careful. I do sometimes either use racing tape / use the Colgan bra with racing tape above the fenders where the bra rubs against the felt of the bra. Lastly another option is the Speed Lingerie bra that does not look above the fenders. It is costly, but effective.

To put it bluntly, the 993 bra completly ****ed up the paint on the top of the fenders and down the center of the bumper.

This can be avoided using cotton diaper strips under the on the areas that rub. The part that covers the trunk hood is functional without creating any damage. That is the only part I use now and only on long (400+ miles) trips.

I also use the magBra. since it is magnetically attached, no movement or flapping occurs.
check www.thegoodiestoreonline.com for price.

If you haven't made up your mind already against getting a bra, I'll throw in my suggestion to avoid getting a bra. It's a good concept in theory, but terrible in practice.

I might just borrow a mag bra from a friend of mine, the regular bra does not sound good.

I have a car bra that has been sitting in the garage...actually looks good (for a bra) since it is the faux carbon fiber-look one.

I personally would not advise you to use ANY bra...I went with the 3M stuff instead. If tracking your car, gaffers tape or Elephant Skins work well.

PM or email me if you are itnerested....

there is also the fancy speedlingerie

I though this one was superior to the standard bra's... but they are very pricey and I don't use mine any more now that its a track car..

I put the full Xpel kit on my car, well worth the money. Ultra easy bug cleanup too.

Cheers,
Andy
