Rumor regarding 911 engines...
There is a rumor which is being discussed on a German Porsche forum in respect to the distribution of Porsche engines within the C2/C4 model range. When the engines go through acceptance testing and hp measurement, the ones showing the best output are reserved for the 4wd models because they are heavier.

(Besides, it's a really old rumor.)

And not just because my top is blue, but I too have heard the rumor about the blue topped cabs. This, however, is just a rumor.

Does this apply to 993 engines only. I ask because I had a 993 for a very short time and I traded it for a 996 which had a much stronger engine. Now both cars were silver though. Too bad I don't have either car to compare with one of you guys cars.

Hi Radar and all,
I believe the order of events was:
The strong 3.6 engine all went into the RS America cars after they were built... There is conclusive proof to that effect... I read it on the Internet....
After the introduction of the 993 - the VERY strong 3.6 engines went into:
1) White cars first - 4 wheel drive;
2) White cars - 2 wheel drive;
3) Special wishes..
You will see all strong engines are marked with yellow crayon on the underside of the casing...
As for 996 engines - that's a different subject..... As there were no strong engines nor weak engines. Rather, those were marked by the RMS problem or not...
