Default Porsche 993 buyers guide

Hi guys,

I am completely new to this forum, but gave joined as I have had it recommended. "You are all nice and willing to help".

Well, I am trying to find a good buyers' guide on the Porsche 993, can anyone help?
Where to download from. I am not interested in ordering something online and paying silly money for something I don't know the quality of.

So, please help with a free alternative. Cheers!

If you PM me your email, I will send you an article that appeared in the January 2004 911 & Porsche World Magazine about buying 993s.

I'd upload here, but it exceeds the allowable limit.

Nevermind, I'll just host it for the time being:

Here is a PPI checklist I copied from here (Rennlist). However, I failed to note who put it together and it does not contain a name. Perhaps the author will step forward for credit:

Stop being a cheapskate; get a SUBSCRIPTION to "Excellence" magazine and wait till they do a buyer's guide on the 993. As I remember, can also BUY one of their old publications with the article. Otherise, scan thru the archives of this board and see where owners have been having trouble.

Actually, Excellence and magazine buyer's guides seem pretty weak, generally. Best thing to do is to do a lot of searches of these forums. See some cars. Drive some if you can. Then decide what you want, and be patient. When you think you have found it, make sure you take a really good look at it, and get a good PPI with compression and leakdown.

Enjoy the hunt.

Does someone still have the buying guide for the 993? I was heavily considering a 996 but drove a friends C4S and that pretty much did it for me (especially w/ all the problems early 996s have had). Thanks.

The first attachment is based on Tony Callas' PPI process. Second is a questionaire I used when speaking with owners on the phone.
