I had a problem with a shimmy at a similar speed range on my '86 when I first bought it. It turned out to be one of the wheels was out of balance.

Sounds like a wheel out of balance or maybe the tires are a little cupped and need to be changed.

All good suggestions. In addition, it could also be a build up of brake dust in the rotors. Use a small drill bit to clear the holes & flush the interior vanes with water. I did this and it greatly reduced the shimmy. Had them balanced & it was eliminated.

Had the same issue for a while...the boners that mounted the tires never could balance the fronts...took them to a good shop and all shimmy is gone!

Check the simple things too, my 95 is very sensitive to low tire pressures. -10lbs in one of my front tires will cause what you are describing.

Find a shop that has a "Hunter" tire balancer, out of balance tires are the most likely culprit.

... more on the above... a Hunter 9700 is the top end right now I believe. I get mine done on one by Discount Tire and it's always perfect.
