Default Bizzare Murcielago Accident : eye-witness & Pics

Hi,

So I went to the Saturday car meet at Santana Row as the 993s are making a showing this week. Nice cars in a row. I have a few pics on that.

I was about to leave at 10:30 or so, suddenly... CRUNCH, about 20 feet away. Then there is this silver MB E series slowing driving away in the parking lot. Hords of people were screaming at the driver, and pushing on the hood to stop the car. The driver was quite intent to just leave. Then one guy jumped in the driver's window and grabbed the steering wheel. Finally the MB stopped and an African American female driver emerged.

By then, I had checked out the car that was hit, and OMG, a silver Murcielago Roadster. The carbon fibre front bumper was bashed and the hood was out of alignment. And there it was the hiter trying to pull a hit-and -run in front of 60+ witnesses, each with a camera. What was she thinking? I have a few pics that just make my blood boil.

Other eye-witnesses said that the woman just got in the MB, flipped her cell on, yapping away and backed up without even looking, and CRUNCH... straight into the Murcielago, and then calming tried to pull away.

When confronted, she had no driver license, and just proceeded to walk to the main shopping center, leaving the MB in the middle of the drive isle. The Murc's owner and a friend went after her. Bystanders tried calling the police and could not get through.

I did not stay to see how it all ended. It just boggles my mind how in our society where we (supposedly) share some common value and decency, someone can have this callous attitude about their behavior and other people's properties.

Just glad it wasn't my RUF.

I'm glad that the driver was stopped by the crowd. I wonder how many times this driver has caused damage and NOT been caught.
Looked like a nice gathering otherwise. Great pictures.

Hardly a scratch on the Benz -- that should buff right out. She's very lucky. They're stout cars ...

Not sure why this thread title has "bizarre" in the title. This kind of crap happens all the time. The Lambo owner is lucky that you guys were around to see it happen. This just confimrs that the upper middle class that can afford MB are just trash with a little bit of money. I would love to see what her reaction she was the victim....

Maybe the Merc was stolen, hence the calm "I will just go into the shopping mall"
Whats a Hitee?
Is it legal to drive without insurance in the USA? It's not a legal requirement in NZ, sadly.

Graham,

In CA, one is supposed to carry minimum $25,000 of liability insurance (paying someone you hit) to drive legally. However, many people here drive with NO insurance at all. Quite a sad state of affair actually.

Sign of the times, unfortunately. The law should specify particularly severe penalties for this sort of behavior. We have to revise the legal system to encourage the readoption of personal responsibility in this country.

The insurance thing is easily fixed....but, in California, they have no interest as it would put a severe damper on the illegals getting to/from work. Tying liability insurance to the DMV is quite simple actually.

Hey CP,

Not to change the subject but what is the car meet at Santana Row?
Is this a regular car meet? Where and when?
Sorry for the hijack, I'm just not up to speed on these "car shows"

Thanks,
B

B-Line,

This is a weekly meet. Every Saturday between 8 am and say 11 am. At Santana Row in San Jose. If you look at the map of the Santana Row Shopping Mall, we meet at the open lots just pass the CineArt Theaters.

The local F-Chat guys wanted to started our car-meet tradition ala Crystal Cove and VCR (Village Coffee Roaster) in S. Cal. This is the 6th week, and I went three times. In time, we hope to 'grow' the attendance like you folks down south. Wanna come visit sometimes?
