DIY 1995 OBD 1 scantool
This describes using Dougs scantool and Rays interface.
I've updated everything and added.
993 scantool Readme explains how to.
The interface circuit will get its own DIY.

Hi again.
I can't get the links in the PDF to work. Seems like my Adobe Reader 8.1 just thinks it's a pice of blue text and not a link. Does anyone happen to have the download link or the software?
Thanks, Mattias

Hi guys,
I'm trying to fix a problem with the sw....
I bought the T-OBD II from Tore,
the hw works fine, but I cannot get in communication with the DME and SRS Airbag part, the others work fine.
Tore and I have been mailing a lot,and the final thought is a sw issue.
I have to say my '97 C4S euro specs has from factory the X51 option(3800 cc engine with some parts of the RS including the DME ECU I suppose by the increase of the rev limiter and other few things)
So,Doug or whoever developed the sw(such a great man),could help my solving this problem?
I can give the part numbers if needed...
Really would help!
cheers

I've been trying to find a scan tool for my ODB1 '95 993 US/California Coupe with an original trapezoidal ODB2 connector. Seems this is a bit non standard and my other ODB2 scan tools won't connect.
All my research keeps coming back to this solution so yes, thanks for the reminder. I'm going to try this.

An off-the-shelf OBD reader/scanner will, if you are lucky, almost always only be able to communicate with the Motronic engine management system. This is certainly the case in the Porsche 964/993. As far as I know, there's only a handful of systems that can do all the OBD-connected things in our cars. (Motronic, ABS, air bag, alarm and climate control)
*The Bosch Porsche "hammer" (KTS 301)or later Bosch Porsche tools as PST2, KTS500 or PIWIS
*Freeware Rennlist Scantool Windows software (serial port adapter, as my T-OBD)
*Durametric Windows software with a proper serial cable
*a Dutch(?) OBD diagnostic tool, can't find the name right now
There's lots of info here on the forum regarding the Scantool serial adapter. However, most of them are using a serial port in the PC, and most of today's PC's haven't got this. You'll then need a USB-serial adapter as well as a home made serial OBD adapter. My T-OBD is already equipped with USB.
Cheers,
Tore

Hi Tore, I just received the T-OBD and trying to load the software, I'm running Windows Vista Pro, will the software work with my version of Windows? I only see references to Win XP and Win 7.

Thanks for the feedback. Vista works fine. Installation of software and drivers are very similar to Win 7 procedures.

Gentlemen, I dont know how you can expect software to be FORWARD compatible to a future operating system without the probability of encountering some issues.
