Good basic suspension shop in SF Bay Area?
Does anyone know of a good shop in the SF Bay Area. I need to have new springs installed on my '97 993. I bought a set of H&R Sport springs to lower the car, this is the first suspension work I have attempted and I would like to take it somewhere that one of you could recommend. I am assuming that I will also need an alignment after the new springs are installed? Thanks for any info.....Paul

Dunno about SF Bay Area. But if you live in Brentwood, head down the 405 and check out Fabrizio at EF1 Motorsports in Signal Hill. He's the best around (in my opinion).

Need a NorCal shop
Thanks for the tip Leander, I should have clarified that I live in the Northern California city of Brentwood. It's still good to have a SoCal recommendation. Thanks, Paul

I use Kahlers in Dublin. He should be close to you and is reputable. I was turned on to him by a wrench on the Peninsula when I told him I need someone close to Fremont.

Website sucks but the shop is 1st rate. You'll see a nice assortment of P-cars too. New and old.

I checked out www.sharkwerks.com since I live in Fremont but they don't seem to have too much 993 info?

Suspension shop
I just had Eric at Pacific Power Motorsports set up my 97 C2S with H&Rs, Bilstein HDs and did the alignment, kinematic toe, corner balance. Very thorough guy, great job. I'm sitting at RS height + 10 - 15mm. Charges $110/hr flat - so not the cheapest, but I'm very satisfied with his work.
They're out in Concord - not sure where Brentwood is?
Let me know if you need more info, but you can find contact info at his website:

Don't want to get into a debate here over what shop is best, but want to suggest that anyone in the SF Bay Area strongly interview the shop under consideration for suspension work and verify the knowledge of the techs and their possesion/know how of the special tools needed to do the job right.
As an owner of one of the 993 rear kinematic toe tools, I somewhat know who locally has the tool and who doesn't, by who has asked me to borrow mine through the "grapevine". Other than the dealers, I know of three other tools locally, besides mine. FWIW, my tool is in residence with Brandon Kraus as Brandon does the alignments on my 993TT and I let him keep the tool as a favor for his great service over the years I have known him. I can recommend Brandon and his shop for complete suspension work, but know others mentioned here can also do the bolt off/on aspects of installing / modding 993 suspension.
Message here... Do not simply trust someone saying that they know how to do the 993 rear alignment. Make sure they have / own the tools !!! LOTS of SF Bay Area shops try to "cheat" the kinematic toe settings and from helping other SF Bay Area 993 owners, I have seen how FAR OFF some of the cars done by these shops have been when we use the actual tool to see why the car drives oddly or unbalanced left vs. right. Please keep this in mind when shoppng this type of work.
