wow, sold today and the new owner has it on ebay already?
no, seems to be the same seller.
maybe he forgot to end the auction.

That's the dealership that put it on ebay. I was told that only one person looked at the car in the last 3 weeks or so - another local dealer - so I assume that the first deposit was from someone reading this thread. That person probably pulled his offer and I also informed the dealership when I learned of the history not to run my credit card as a backup offer because if the info in the other thread is correct, the car wasn't accurately described.

Mike,
Ruf offers everything in their catalog as an option when they do a car... brakes, seats, instruments, bumpers, steering wheel, floor mats, sills, a-piller fairings, emblems, shifter, transmission gearings, suspension, mirrors, etc. The owner is limited only by his wallet. And it takes a very fat wallet!

Would love to know how Rob 97 993c2 got his info? My guess is he has saved somebody some heartache. The dealership is very obviously trying to hide the true story.
Would be a fun car to play with though...at the right price.

I just received an email from the car's current owner in reply to one I sent him about how I wasn't too pleased to learn of the history of the car and his reply was:
"what history are you speaking of?"
I cut and pasted parts of Rob 97 993c2's post and will post his reply if I get one. The subwoofers look nice at least.

I posted the 'history' that i researched at about 5.30pm today, so probably after the dealership closed on saturday, so i doubt that changed the landscape .. well, whatever. Lets just say im sure this car IS and WAS available all day today as well as all day yesterday, and perhaps all day tomorrow.
What i am certain of is:
1- only an idiot would seek additional HP for a Ruf BTR conversion, especially to a place other than Ruf (regardless of the quality of the tuner)
2- Prototech (in FL) is a distributor for Protomotive parts(in CA, which is Todd Knighton's shop). Most turbo people think very well of Todd (see the 993tt board), but both, Prototech (in FL), and Protosport (in NJ) often do different turbo work despite the "proto-xxx" relationship ... I do not want to put down any Proto-xxxx, but i think it is clear that they will not be held in the same regard as Ruf (especially if the car was already a Ruf). That said, Id let Todd Knighton work on my car any day and all day on sunday.
3- im willing to be proved wrong and i hope this really is a $50k 'pure' Ruf BTR; if so, i hope to get a ride from the lucky buyer.
4- most importantly, i hope i have saved a fellow rennlister the cost of a PPI, or a trip to VA, or $50k plus additional tuning costs.
So, while I did not offer to sell the history on this car (even carfax gets $20), Im happy to receive flowers, chocolates, wine, brake pads, and mobil 1
