I have been reading a ton of old posts about pads and I'm about to pull the trigger on some Pagid Yellows, but what do you 993 track rats use? Also, does anyone have experience with the Mintex race compound?

No experience with Mintex's track compounds. I do use, and continue to recommend PFC 97's. They are great pads, not too dusty and most importantly are consistent and give awesome pedal feel.

You read my mind. Seems as though Yellows and PFC 97s are about the same price.

Hawk Blues. Cheaper than Pagids and far less fussy in terms of break-in and pad deposit. Dust is corrosive, so be sure to clean the wheels and car soon after getting back from the track.

I'm running Yellows - less fussy in break-in than other Pagids I'm told. They are working fine for me.

I'm very familiar with the blues. I have been using them for years on my mazda, but so many more options with Porsche. I guess I will just stick w/ the blues. Thanks

Pagid Blacks ... IMHO worth the extra $$$ ... like throwing out an anchor ...

The Pagid RS 14 black definitely has the most bite and best temp resistance. The Pagid RS 19 yellow, while not as aggressive can be used on the street w/ few problems(my choice)

the PFCs also have a very good rep

I too run the Pagid blacks... hand of God braking forces but they are not too kind on the disks.

I like using the Pagid Yellow (RS19 I think it's called) in front and Pagid Black (RS14) in year..


FWIW: Randy Pobst drove my 993 and complimented my brake setup so I'll stick with what works for me...

I'm using standard disks with Pagid Blues and ATE Super Blue Fluid. I've also removed the caliper backing plates to get some more air in there. They've so far survived some pretty heavy track work, including a stint with a very talented racing driver at the wheel and a trip to the Nordschliefe. They're kind with the disks and I've not had one second of fade, despite the car being a fairly heafty 3100lbs at the present.
