Tri-State NY Rennlist Foliage Drive - Plans Finalized - 10/22
(last updated - 10/21 - 7:40pm)
(Slight Change in Breakfast plans - see below)
Hi guys,
We are only 6 days away from our drive! Whoohoo! Let's all pray for the weather we had this past weekend. If you haven't noticed, I have made a raindate for the Sunday after, but i'm really hoping we won't need it. So..without further adieu, here are the details of the drive:
"THE MEET"
We will be meeting at 7:30am and aim to be on the road by 8:30am at the latest. Please try to be there no later than 8:00am. We will probably be doing a spoiler wall swap on Tom's car and Dave ('dfinnegan') has generously offered to bring his Hammer in case anyone wants their codes read.
"THE DRIVE"
With the enormous help of Bob ("Bob in NY") we were able to come up with an extraordinary drive for everyone that will surely not disappoint. We will be starting from the Palisades Pkwy and end in Kingston, NY with a great brunch. We will be taking a series of back roads with pictureque backdrops that you will positively enjoy. From Kingston, it is an easy ride back home on the NY Thruway or you can enjoy on your own in the town of Kingston. Please allocate about 2 hrs. for the drive. This is actually a route that the Corvette guys recently mapped out, which Bob happily "tested" out for us this past weekend and he thought it was 'perfect'. So...in case they are reading this, just wanted to thank the Corvette guys. I will be providing a copy of the detailed route to everyone on Sunday, so don't worry about getting lost.
"GOT FOOD?"
We thought what a good idea it would be to cap off the drive with some good food and company, so we will be ending the drive at the The Family Restaurant. They have a breakfast buffet for $10/pp every Sunday. It is a buffet, so you can eat to your heart's (or stomach's) desire. They have ample parking there, so our pride and joys will be safe.

While I dont have a 993, I was wondering if I might be allowed to tag along?
I love 993s and would love to just listen to the banter and stand in awe at your cars.
I drive a VW Corrado VR6.

PS: I can understand if you guys would prefer that I do not tag along, no feelings will be hurt.

Arrwin,
I'm also in for this one depending on date.
I can map out some incredible roads up and around Bear Mountain which won't disappoint.
Shoot me a note or reach out to me when you get a chance.
See you soon.

The group is shaping up nicely. With the help of some Rennlisters, we are working on a nice route for everyone. We will have more details in the near future.
Tentatively, I am thinking Sunday (morning) Oct. 22nd, as the preceding weekends don't for me. I'm hoping there will still be some foliage at that time. Does this work for everyone?
I will reach out to the other Rennlist forums as well.
Can't wait.
Tom...we still need to replace your spoiler wall. Wouldn't want it flapping around on the drive.
