Andreas,

Thanks so much for showing me the picture. That is exactly how mine looks like!

I almost fainted when I thought that my car was 964 in a 993 body.

Hi eunsulover

jsut bougt Adrian's 993 King of ... book....l oads of info, and 1 bit I remembered -

ref. your air blower question -

Explains that the later 95 year had the air ducting up to the underside of the rear spoiler, and a special system that stops exhaust gasses being drawn into the vent system when the car is in reverse gear.

I had to replace the heat sensor/sender in the air ducting - and the parts supplier I used said it was the same part from 964s.

My favorite 964 part number is the one on the bottom of the engine case.

I am sorry - No, not at all. I should have been clear. I "imagined" that the car could have been in some kind of rear-end accident and been reassembled using 964 parts for the cost saving or something.
When I panic, I tend to imagine these things

I think that 964s are amazing cars!

You should be glad to see part numbers from a variety of models. That means that they have been tried and true over a couple models and many years. "If it ain't broke..."

For a new owner, or someone new to the DIY world, 911 part numbers can be very confusing. And, as I have learned over the years, the PNs can be superseded, causing further confusion. Check and recheck your part numbers when you order something. It is kind of like carpentry, "Measure twice (or three times, in my case) and cut once."

The Porsche PET is an invaluable tool and one that every 911 owner should have.

As you have learned, when in doubt, ask. The folks here are a wealth of information and extraordinarily helpful.

trivia time - the 993 has at least one 901 part number .... you use it often.

(the answer will be my 901st post, to boot!)
