993 search
Greetings from a 997 owner. Have followed and very much enjoyed this forum for quite some time as I am searching for a top quality 993 car. Tim Holt, who apparently is a decent dealer according to what I've read on this forum, has three prime cars I would consider, at a premium price of course:
96 yellow C2, full options, 13K miles, $59,000
96 yellow C2, 4.8K miles, $59,000
96 guards red C2, 19K, $50,000
Would appreciate any opinion on these cars, which would be most desirable, and the pricing. Is he a dealer willing to negotiate price? Thanks and hope to join you folks soon.

I live about 5 miles from Tim Holt -- His cars are always looking good but he does charge for them.
If your interested in a 95 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with 33k miles lowered with all new suspension and HID's 18" wheel upgrade let me know -- I'm thinking of selling mine since I rarely use it.
Its very black with Cashmere interior

Tim is one of the good guys, I bought my 97 n.b. from him last summer.pick out the one you want, and then negoiate with him. He is fair, if you are serious. i.m.h.o. go for the 13k mile car and wider options vs the bare bones 4.8K mile car. good luck.

I'd go straight to the source to find out if he'll negotiate on price ... my guess is that it depends on the car. These sound nice ... good luck ... and look forward to some pics when you pick one out and seeing you around here.

I find that there's a real premium on any 993 below 20K miles. The sweet spot is 25K - 40K. But if you want to park it in a bubble, I'm sure they're all great. IMO, the SY may be a better choice, as many astute buyers are wary of what happens to "Guards Pink" if it wasn't garaged. Heard nothing but good things about the quality of his cars. A "non-technical" dealer is much more risky, but I think he does repairs as well and is knowledgeable about the internals.
I'm bummed because on 2/28 I spoke with the owner of a '95 Midnight with 40K in NJ for $33K. It was gone in 2 days. On 3/12, I saw a very similar car at Holt in PA with 42K. Will probably be listed at $43k. Obviosuly he has to carry the note, but a tidy profit, IMO. He really hustles on the buying end. I guess inventory for him, Sloan, RPM and International Sports Cars doesn't just appear like magic out of thin air!
BTW- is Daugherty's still the go-to for a Holt PPI? Also in West Chester.

I'm not sure if that's the same car and yes $10k is alot, but when you think about how long the cars sit on his lot, the financing and the potential negotiations, I guess you start high and see where you end up.
If he makes 2,000 to 4000 per car, it seems like a lot of money, but when you consider, rent, taxes, employees, his time finding and inspecting cars and that he's not moving 100 cars a month I think you can quickly see that he's not becoming a millionaire doing this. It's a tough biz to be in, ask me how I know. I've seen the yellow ones and a couple other cars on his site for a few months now. That's costing him money every minute they sit there.
It's not all gravy......

What are your plans for the car? Is it going to sit in your garage or are you going to drive it? Why are you looking at such low mile examples?
The reason I ask this is because there is obviously a very high premium to pay for these ultra low mile cars and unless you're collecting, cars that sit are not always the best/most trouble free cars. Engines and other mechanical components benefit from regular use.
There are many cars in the 30k to 40k mile range that are immaculate with complete histories that can be bought for $20k less than the cars you're looking at. Cars in this pirce/mile/condition range make for great weekend/daily drivers IMO.
