That was clearly at PIR 's main parking lot near the timing tower (just out of view of the carnage).

Isn't there another thread where everybody is saying how cheap and safe Auto-X is?

I've seen cars stuffed under fences, into poles, and spun into bystander's cars at Autocrosses but this takes the cake.

GT-3s, like Ferraris, are not intended for parking lots.

Not all Auto-X are in parking lots. Our club, for instance, uses and abandoned jet runway:

Based on the photos in that thread, it looks like they were running the event in this area. Looks pretty tight:

Guess it was better that he found the clutch and not the gas. Was 60 minutes there to report on the "faulty" brakes?

I miss autox there. You guys are great to autox with. I haven't had much fun autox anywhere else(Well I guess its because I am usually the only Porsche among Covette here)

Whoever laid out the shutdown area was an idiot.....Just goes to show that you can't ever assume that your safe when automobiles are being raced, particularly when just anyone can get in a car and put it on the course.

Personally, my mindset at any automotive competition, Auto-X, DE, ALMS, NASCAR, F1, or whatever is the same as the one I have at a firing range...Visualize the potential line of fire and stay out of it.

I have never seen such a complete failure of pit safety in my 15+ years of AX-ing & Racing! No matter what the reason, what a dumb ***!
If you exceed 5-10 mph in the shut down/pit area here in San Diego PCA region, we will ask you once to slow down, if you don't comply, we will make you leave with the assistance of security from Qualcomm Stadium if necessary.
