Default strange sound

I have a 96 c2 that has a buzzing sound in behind the dash. When the ignition is turned off it continues for a half a minute. What could it be?

Possibly the fan for the climate control ECU? I believe it is designed to run after the ignition has been shut off.

Mine does the same. Sometimes for a few seconds after shutdown, other time it stays on for minutes. As long as it doesn't run the battery down, I'm okay with the noise

Its likely the little fan that runs air from the cabin over a temperature sensor. It often runs after shutoff...its also been know to get "stuck" and drain batteries......

Don't worry, your's sounds fine.

Cheers,

Mike

If someone's keeping score, mine does that too. Thought it was the clock for a while...

If the fan stays on for more than 20 minutes you have a problem with a transistor (T1) on the main PCB inside the CCU.

The job requires soldering three leads from a new $0.36USD transistor so its not the easiest thing in the world to do but, with proper instructions there is no reason you can't do this even if you have never soldered anything in your life. If the component was surface mounted I would suggest leaving it to the pros but its a through hole so. I will post a How-to article with step-by-step instructions and photos this week (desolder, remove transistor, test transistor, clean pcb, install, solder, etc.)
