Default OT: Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

Hey Guys (and Gals),

I know this has been discussed before, but I found a watch shop in Dubai yesterday that has a white gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in-stock and for sale. It's an absolutely beautiful watch! But, I almost dropped it when the shopkeeper told me what it cost!

Question is: What are they worth? And, how hard are they to obtain? I don't want the watch... I can't see wearing that much $$ on my wrist. However, I might be persuaded/bribed into buying it and bringing it back... If they are as rare as I seem to remember being discussed.

As always... Thanks for the information!

I don't think white gold is that hard to get. Stainless steel daytona is the one you want to get.

Gotcha... That makes sense. How much is the stainless Daytona? How hard are they to come by?

I love this place!

Used SS: 10K to 12K

New SS: Wait a couple of years unless you find a Rolex dealer that will sell you the SS after you buy several watches at once.

New WG: Plenty of those around. Anywhere from 18K to 22K.

Hey guys,
I have not promoted my self on the forum yet, but you opened the window for me. I own and operate one of the best online stores for Rolex (non-authorized dealer = great discounts) and will be happy to give any Rennlisters an even better deal than I normally sell for. The best value on any Rolex is to go Pre-owned because it has taken its depriciation hit already. Daytona's always command high prices and SS models are now getting 11,500 and up, depending on the day literally, and great used ones can be had for around $10000 or less. As far as white gold goes I think they look best on the leather strap, but thats all personal taste of coarse. If anyone wants prices or more nfo on me just let me know!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lately, Rennlist has had a number of businesses and "marketers" soliciting their wares in threads and posts. Some are veiled, whilst others are more brazen. Since Rennlist is the single largest Internet site dedicated to Porsche automobiles and enthusiasts, it is bound to happen. But.......

To be clear, Rennlist would not exist except for paying Sponsors and Members - and they, along with us - feel it is unfair that they subsidize non-Sponsor sales and marketing efforts, often times with competing products with Rennlist Sponsors. In short, if you are not a Sponsor, the Rennlist Charter prohibits commercial posts to the Forums.

What is commercial solicitation? For example...

If you post We/our/my company has... - you are selling something....
If you post We/our/my product is... - you are selling something....
If you post We/our/my customers'... - you are selling something....
If you post We/our/my will be announcing... - you are selling something....
If you post We/our/my test results for our... - you are selling something....
If you post We/our/my can make or supply that... - you are selling something....

If you/your company/product would like to have your unaffiliated/unbiased customers talk about your product - they are more than welcome to do so. However, as a commercial vendor with a sales intent - you are not.

Further, you are more then welcome to participate simply as an individual enthusiast - BUT NOT as a vendor/sales agent with a sales agenda. As well - a "Rennlist Member" does not broker you being a "Rennlist Sponsor" and acting as such, no more than being a Member of a car club entitles you to receive a free commercial full-page color advertisement in their monthly publication.

Finally - if you would like to become a Sponsor - the entry level flat rate is $125 per month, payable three months in advance for not less then one year. Your business will be listed as a Rennlist Sponsor on the Sponsor page without a banner in rotation - and your title changed to reflect your support of this site. You may PayPal your payments, fax a credit card or email jmunson@rennlist.com or admin@rennlist.com for other payment or Sponsor plans (such as a rotating banner, dedicated forum Sponsorship, etc.).

Until you become a paid Sponsor, please understand your "advertisements" will be either edited or deleted, as it's neither "fair" to those who support this site - nor "us", the Rennlist community.

My thanks for your understanding,

John D.

Hi John D,
Sorry if I stepped on any toes, I figured since this thread is off topic it would not really matter. As far assponsoring goes I think thats a great idea and I'm going to look into that this afternoon. I've also been contemplating advertizing in Panorama magazine.
Thanks,
Aaron

Yea, the SS one is the rare ones. The White Gold is very available even in the US, as they are north of $20K. The list price on the SS is $8K, if you can find a dealer that will put you on the list. Usually, the more you buy the higher on the list you go.

Just to add to the SS Daytona, it is far away from being rare, they make a boat load of them and have for years, they are just very highly sought after and aways sold out, thats why they get a primium. Funny thing about this watch is that you pay less for a 2-tone model that actually has precious metal, 18K in the center links of the band and bezel, than you do for the steel only model.

What sucks is the damn Daytona list's for about $7,500.00 but good luck finding it at that price. Even at $12k, it's still tough to get. I have heard of going to off market countries but I think everyone is wise to the Daytona.

SS Daytonas are extremely hard to come by. Don't buy anything less as far as the Daytona.
