Default Need advise for proper tip for transport driver

Hey Guys,
I'm expecting delivery of my new-to-me 993 today. I normally know what and how much to tip for service but am unsure of what to tip the transport driver. He's come from Denver to Miami. What should I give him to be fair?
Thanks,
Aaron

I wasn't sure about this either. I tipped the driver $100 for delivering my R32 from Cali to MD. I hope this was fair and he seemed to appreciate it.

I offered to tip my DeMoise driver $50, but he refused. Great guy and a great company.

I tipped my DeMoise driver $160 ($100 at pick up and $60 at delivery) for two cars from L.A to DFW. The driver had to spend an extra night in L.A and in Pheonix to wait for me so that I was able to be there to receive the cars. They were excellent with no issues.

Thanks for the advise, I'll start at $50 and if he looks at it funny I'll add another $50. I don't want to insult him or seem unappreciative.

I'd say it's based on service too...

Just like any other service. If you get crappy service in a restaurant you leave less. In fact I once completely stiffed a waitress that was a complete b*tch and I made sure she knew that I left her nothing.

That being said I twice used intercity lines. Once as a seller so I wasn't receiving the car and once as a buyer. They were awesome both times and the once that I was a buyer I gave the guy $100. He went out of his way to make my experience great and took care of my car.

Sheesh. Used Intercity four times and I didn't know you are supposed to tip...

I tipped my Intercity guys $40 each time on delivery. Figured a couple of twenties isn't going to be sneezed at--its lunch for two on the road. Already spending $1500 for their "superior" service so didn't really feel the need to drop much more money.

I used another company and the guy didn't even hang around long enough for me to slip a tip. To be honest I'm not sure its expected.

I gave the Passport-FedEx driver $100 because of the prompt, excellent service and arriving a day earlier than promised.
I still came out money ahead because Passport was $300 less than Inter-City and nearly $500 less than Horseless Carraige.

Heres the update: He got no tip at all. Why? Because he brought the car off the truck like an A$$ WAY too fast and ground the drivers side exhaust into the pavement. No real harm except scaped on the bottom and the stress on me of watching it all. I'm a really laid back guy and normally would'nt be bothered by something like that, it was just his poor judgement and being so care free about it. He got no tip for scratching a tip.

That sucks! Intercity delivered mine and were so careful unloading it, a ten minute affair... I think I was planning on tipping $80, but in all the excitement of seeing the most beautiful C4S ever, I gave him (& her) $100 (total). They deserved it, I can understand your decision--that's the service industry, you got to work for it.

Did he apologize? You could let his supervisor know about the situation, we don't want that happening to another 993...EVER! [although I scratch my tips driving up & down the hills here... ]

When my 993 was delivered by a company selected by the selling dealer I failed to tip the driver, didn't even think about it. However I did give him a jug of Gatoraid and a few breakfast bars for the road. Wish I had tipped him though, the service was great.

I had a BMW 840 delivered a couple of months ago by Intercity Lines and tipped them $40. I think the driver(s) wouldn't turn their noses up at any tip you choose to give. Neither of my deliveries involved any hardship on the driver.
