RS Steering Wheel -Getting rid of the air bag warning light
Hi All,
This is excellanty forum hope you guys can help me out here..
I have just fiited a RS steering wheel to my 1996 C2s and cannot get the airbag warning light to dissapear. My porsche independant garage has done this mod many times and whathe normally does is attach a resistor so the OBC thinks the airbag is still in place. On this occasion however I still get the warning light on the dash. Any idea how to get rid of the light ? is their a DIY for this modification ? it seemed like a easy common mod to do. .Thanks in advance.

Better way is to use the bypass wire from porsche #928.612.220.00
The plug is located under center console. Access trap is on passenger side near shifter.
Do a search, there is plenty on it.
Here's a DIY from the 964 section

I used a resistor which I purchased from Gert with my RS wheel... no problems. The battery was disconnected during the installation, which seems to be important in fooling the airbag control circuitry according to other posts. It sounds like you might need to have the airbag fault codes re-set... try dis-connecting the battery... if that fails, you might need to visit someone with the correct code reader device for the airbag (Bosch Hammer?). Good luck...

The proper resistor is a 2.8-2.9 ohm 1/4 watt.
If you don't install the resistor and just pull the bulb, you'll still get the "!" light, and you'll have to reset it every time you start the car.
