Default top down without bonnet

Question: When I bought my 993 Cab, the dealer told me to be careful driving with the top down and NO bonnet covering the top. He said that driving too fast will ruin the headliner.
So, my question is this: What is that magic speed where I can safely drive without damaging the headliner?

I drive all the time at 80-85 with no damage to the headliner. I would however like to get a new headliner since mine is no longer black but a not so lovely shade of grey.

My liner is original and is showing wear from driving sans bonnet. Around the window I am seing some threads that need to be clipped, also a small tear on the drivers side near the rear window to sew. I am in no real hurry to replace the headliner as it will do very little to my enjoyment of the car. I have decided that I must ask myself the question before removing the top....do I want to bonnet or not? If I cannot answer yes....I ride with the top up......

I would not feel this way if the threads were not showing now or maybe if I could not see them in the R/V mirror....

I'll but it on if I'm planning on going 40-50 for any length of time. Below that, the wind doesn't whip it around much and the are usually shorter so it doesn't get bleached by the sun much.

I put in on less than I used to but still think it's good insurance.

Cleaning bird poop from a liner would be reason enough for me to always put the boot on.

Me, if the top is down the boot is on. Feel free to drive your cab w/ the boot off but I won't drive mine w/out it.
