May be a dumb ***, but at least he did it in the 911 versus a f-car or something!

That is terrible. Just totally irresponsible.

I mean, the car wasn't even broken in properly yet. Could've really damaged something.

Why do they compare this to all the different aeroplanes? It just sounds so idiotic!
I agree about him being so totally irresponsible! What the hell was he thinkin? There was a whole other gear he hadn't shifted to yet! ~Chris~

At least nobody was hurt. I'm no saint, but 172mph is way fast.

I'll be honest. I hear guys saying all the time that they dusted this car and that one from a light or on the highway. When they find out I have a P-car they ask me what I have dusted. My response is always the same - If I wanted to race I'd track the car. Public streets are no place for racing.

Brady was travelling at a speed sufficient to lift a Boeing 737 off the runway.

Unbelivable. Thank god nothing went terribly wrong & I'm sure it did the car absolutely no good.

He denied a further charge, that he had taken the £93,000 Porsche without permission from the company for which he worked at the time
Tough to make the defence suggested at the end of the article - that he was an experienced driver - as the car was not his and he was sacked for swiping the companies ( bosses????) turbo ------ loser!!

I think John's run is much more impressive. He has put an awful lot of work into a very sweet car. Pretty good piece of driving as well and legal!

He was so close to the all time record though, just 3 mph more!

To do that speed on the A420 is a suicidal action .Its a small , winding country road . How about buying stealing a shotgun as an option ? At least there is little chance of anyone else being killed !

From the article:

Quick reminder

63mph Minimum take-off speed of four-seater Cessna 150 light aircraft
150mph Minimum take-off speed of a laden Boeing 737 jet
174mph World land speed record set by Malcolm Campbell in 1927
203mph Record set by Sir Henry Seagrave three weeks later
70mph Maximum legal speed limit on any British road
£114million Total speeding fines paid by British motorists last year
193mph Top speed of Porsche 911 Turbo, below, which costs about £98,000. 0-62mph: 3.9 seconds

But what if it was on a conveyor belt....
